Starz In Motion Dance Studio located at 1946 Petawawa Blvd, Pembroke ON K8A 7H2 is looking for a Head of Ballet. The salary is $38.77/hour per hour. This is a full time, year-round positions working an average of 30 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities

- Lead the artistic and choreographic development of the studio’s ballet programs for children, youth, adults and seniors.
- Create original ballet choreography and artistic concepts for recitals, competitive programs, local performances and other studio productions, including selection of music, movement and style appropriate to dancers’ abilities.
- Direct rehearsals and provide artistic and technical direction to dancers throughout the rehearsal and performance process.
- Evaluate dancers’ technical abilities and performance readiness, adapting choreography as required to improve execution and achieve artistic objectives.
- Oversee the studio’s ballet curriculum and establish technical and artistic standards for recreational, competitive and examination-level programs.
- Provide artistic and technical guidance to other dance instructors and collaborate with staff and management on ballet programming, choreography, performances and student development.
- Mentor developing ballet instructors and future teachers pursuing training and certification through the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).
- Prepare students for RAD ballet examinations at children’s, intermediate and advanced levels, including assessing readiness and providing technical feedback.
- Provide specialized pointe instruction, including assessing readiness, developing technique and monitoring student progression and safety.
- Deliver specialized ballet instruction to children, youth and adults, including senior participants through the RAD Silver Swans program.
- Maintain a safe, positive and inclusive training environment and communicate with students and families regarding progress, examinations, competitive programs and performances.




- Complete required program administration and participate in staff meetings, professional development and training as required.

Required Qualifications

- Full teaching certification with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and current registration as an RAD teacher.
- 5+ years of professional experience teaching ballet and preparing students for RAD examinations at children’s, intermediate and advanced levels.
- Demonstrated experience developing original ballet choreography and directing dancers for competitive and public performances.
- Extensive knowledge of classical ballet technique, choreography, musicality, training methodology and performance development.
- Demonstrated experience teaching pointe technique and safely assessing and developing students through progressive pointe training.
- Current registration/licensing to deliver the RAD Silver Swans program, with experience teaching adult and senior participants.
- Experience mentoring developing dance instructors and future teachers pursuing RAD training and certification.
- Competitive-level ballet experience as a teacher, coach, choreographer and/or performer.
- Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills, with demonstrated ability to work effectively with children, youth, adults, seniors, instructors and families.
- Proficiency in both English and French sufficient to provide ballet instruction, artistic direction and effective communication.
- Current Intermediate First Aid with CPR C from a WSIB-approved provider, valid throughout the term of employment.
- Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Screening Check dated within 30 days, as a condition of employment.
