About Us
RR Infrastructure Ltd. is a concrete contractor serving civil clients across the GTA. Our crews self-perform formwork, rebar placement, concrete placing and finishing with a focus on road construction. We are COR® certified and treat safety as a production discipline, not a paperwork exercise.
Position Summary
We are looking for a Health and Safety Specialist to support our field operations and keep our safety program working where it matters — on the deck, at the pump, and in front of the crew. This role splits time between active job sites and the office, providing hands-on coaching to supervisors and workers, conducting inspections and audits, managing incident investigations, and maintaining the documentation that supports our legal obligations and certification status.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular site inspections across active projects, documenting findings and tracking corrective actions to closure.
- Maintain compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, O. Reg. 213/91 (Construction Projects), Reg. 490/09 (Designated Substances — silica), WHMIS 2015, and all applicable municipal and client requirements.
- Develop and revise safe work practices, safe job procedures, hazard assessments, and site-specific safety plans.
- Prepare and maintain site-specific emergency response plans, including pump line failure, entrapment, and rescue considerations.
- Support internal and external audits, including COR® 2020 audit preparation, evidence collection, and closing action items.
- Maintain safety records, training matrices, and documentation in SiteDocs, ensuring records are audit-ready at all times.
- Lead and document incident and near-miss investigations using root cause methodology, and drive corrective actions to completion.
- Deliver orientations, toolbox talks, and targeted training on concrete-specific hazards — silica dust control, cement burns and dermatitis, rebar impalement protection, formwork stability, and mobile equipment interaction.
Experience
- Proven experience working within manufacturing environments with a strong understanding of industry-specific safety challenges.
- Demonstrated success in developing and delivering effective training & development programs related to health and safety practices.
- Familiarity with relevant safety regulations such as OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards or equivalent local laws.
- Strong investigative skills with the ability to analyze incidents critically and recommend actionable solutions.
- Excellent communication skills to engage diverse teams at all levels of the organization.
- Prior experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, or compliance reviews is highly desirable.
What We Offer
- Market-competitive salary with opportunity for a company vehicle
- Comprehensive health and dental benefits
- Paid training, certification renewal, and professional designation support
- Direct pathway to senior leadership and real authority to stop unsafe work
