Position Vacancy: Health Information Management
Position: Part Time Health Records Clerk
Posting Period: September 9 - 14
Hours of Work: UNIFOR PT/FT
Location: WRHN @ Midtown (formerly Grand River Hospital, KW Campus)
Position Summary :
Completion of patient/visitors/staff requests in person, via email and over the phone
- Excellent knowledge related to Release of Information requests for Medical and Legal purposes and adhere to internal policies and legislation
- Solid understanding of PHIPA, Public Hospital Act and Mental Health Act
- Retrieve and process charts for clinics, programs and various other programs
- Coordinate with other departments such as outpatient to collect all patient information as required
- Proficient in verifying and validating patient referrals to be resubmitted to primary care physician or referring physician
- Proficient in identifying clinical documentation stored in various different electronic systems of the hospital as well as paper,
CD and Microfilm/Microfiche.
- Educate and train students, new staff, and document processes as required
- Excellent communication both verbal and written with great attention to detail
- Proficient in WINRECS, excel and word to update and maintain tracking tools
- Perform quality assurance checks on all charts
- Other duties as required
Position Requirements:
· 2 year Health Office Administration college diploma or equivalent
· Experience working in a hospital setting is an asset; health record department preferred
· Medical terminology required
· Excellent communication, computer and organizational skills
· Knowledge of Word, Excel, Microsoft
· Ability to work in a team workplace
· Good attendance record
