Position Summary

TDOT Civil is seeking an FTTH Homeowner Consent Coordinator to support our fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) construction projects.

The primary responsibility of this position is to visit residential properties before fibre drop installation, communicate directly with homeowners, explain the proposed work, and obtain the required homeowner consent/authorization for TDOT Civil crews to complete fibre drops on private property.

This is a field-based, customer-facing position requiring solid communication, organization, professionalism, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

- Visit assigned residential properties within designated FTTH construction areas.
- Introduce yourself as a representative of TDOT Civil and professionally communicate with homeowners.
- Explain the purpose and general scope of the fibre drop installation.
- Explain the proposed drop route, property access requirements, and anticipated work to the homeowner.
- Obtain signed or digital homeowner consent/authorization before construction crews enter private property or complete the drop.
- Confirm and document the homeowner's preferred fibre entry/demarcation location where applicable.
- Clearly record properties as Approved, Refused, No Answer, Follow-Up Required, Vacant, or Access Issue.
- Take property/site photos where required for construction planning and documentation.
- Record any homeowner concerns, special instructions, landscaping considerations, pets, gates, irrigation systems, private utilities, or other potential obstacles.




- Maintain accurate daily records of all properties visited and consents obtained.
- Submit completed consent forms and supporting documentation to the project/operations team.
- Coordinate with drop crews and supervisors to ensure only approved properties are released for construction.
- Conduct follow-up visits to properties where homeowners were unavailable during the initial visit.
- Respond professionally to homeowner questions and escalate technical questions, complaints, or unusual situations to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a professional appearance and represent TDOT Civil positively within the community.
- Follow all company safety policies and project-specific requirements while working in the field.

Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Comfortable approaching and speaking with homeowners door-to-door.
- Professional, respectful, and customer-service-oriented attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to use a smartphone/tablet for forms, photos, maps, and project tracking.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned areas efficiently.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation preferred.
- Previous experience in telecommunications, FTTH, utilities, construction, canvassing, customer service, sales, or community outreach is an asset.
- Basic understanding of fibre-optic/telecommunication construction is an asset but training can be provided.

Physical & Work Requirements
- This is primarily an outdoor, field-based position.
- Must be comfortable walking between residential properties for extended periods.
- Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Some evening or weekend work may be required to reach homeowners who are unavailable during normal working hours.

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 50.0 per week
