We are excited to be recruiting for Part Time Host/Hostesses at our amazing property The Wood Tavern.

This position requires weekend availability, with shifts scheduled during both daytime and evening hours.

The Norwood Hotel has always been an innovative leader in the hotel industry.

The Norwood

Hotel has an interesting and diverse history dating back to the latter part of the 1800’s. The earliest records available indicate a photograph of the hotel in 1895. In 1937, the Hotel came under the ownership of the late Merle Sparrow and has been operated by the Sparrow family ever since. This longevity in ownership makes the Norwood the oldest operated family hotel in Manitoba and one, if not the oldest in all of Western Canada.

Job Overview:

The Host/Hostess is the first point of contact for guests, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. This role is responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing reservations and waitlists, and coordinating with the serving team to ensure smooth service.



The Host provides attentive and friendly guest service, helps maintain the flow of the dining room, and represents the hotel with professionalism and hospitality.

Duties:

1. Greet guests warmly with genuine enthusiasm and a positive attitude upon arrival.
2. Responsible for dining room knowledge - be aware of all tables and seat numbers.
3. Conducts guest seating.
4. Answers restaurant telephone.
5. Makes reservations.
6. Ensures efficiency, timeliness, and professionalism at all times.
7. Assists all fellow employees as required to maintain teamwork standards.
8. Performs general cleaning duties for the front of the restaurant and immediate lobby area.

What you bring to the table:

1. Must be 18 - Direct Host/Hostess experience in a fast-paced, busy restaurant environment is considered an asset.
2. A positive, hardworking attitude with a skilled appearance and an energetic, outgoing approach.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with team members.
4. The ability to stay focused in a high volume, fast-paced industry and ensure accuracy and procedures are followed.
