Con-Tech General Contractors Ltd. is seeking an experienced, motivated, and hands-on Health & Safety Advisor to join our team.
We are looking for someone who understands construction — not just safety policies and paperwork. The ideal candidate has strong field experience, understands the challenges faced by construction crews, and can provide practical safety leadership that supports safe, productive project execution.
This is a field-focused role for a self-motivated, solution-driven individual who can work alongside supervisors and crews, identify hazards, provide guidance, and help maintain strong safety practices across our operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Support Site Superintendents and site supervision in implementing and maintaining or health and safety programs.
- Ensure employees and subcontractors understand and follow regulatory requirements, company policies, and site-specific procedures.
- Conduct orientations, toolbox talks, inspections, observations, audits, and safety meetings.
- Identify hazards and unsafe conditions and work with teams to develop effective corrective actions.
- Assist with incident, near-miss, and injury investigations, including corrective action follow-up.
- Review and support Safe Work Practices, Safe Work Procedures, hazard assessments, and safety documentation.
- Coach employees and supervisors on safe work practices and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain safety records, reports, statistics, and electronic safety systems.
- Support COR requirements and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- NCSO designation or CRSP certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of construction industry experience working directly in the field/on the tools.
- Strong understanding of construction operations, hazards, equipment, and safe work practices.
- Experience in commercial, civil, industrial, or infrastructure construction is an asset.
- Knowledge of occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with workers, supervisors, subcontractors, and management.
- Comfortable addressing safety concerns and having constructive conversations when required.
- Strong computer skills and experience with safety documentation systems.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
