Exempt, Regular, Full time The Information Security Systems Administrator is responsible for the implementation, administration, and continuous improvement of the University’s information security systems and controls. The role safeguards institutional information assets by ensuring that security technologies are effectively deployed, monitored, and aligned with applicable regulatory, privacy, and cybersecurity requirements.

The position contributes to the reduction of cyber risk through proactive detection, response, and mitigation activities, and supports the strategic and operational priorities of the Cyber Security Office.

Responsibilities

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Administering, configuring, and maintaining enterprise security technologies, including endpoint protection, SIEM, and identity and access management solutions;
- Monitoring, investigating, and responding to cybersecurity alerts, incidents, and threats;
- Conducting vulnerability scans, assessing findings, and coordinating remediation activities with IT teams;
- Supporting risk management of the administration of user access controls, privileged accounts, multi-factor authentications (MFA), and identity security initiatives;
- Analyzing system, application, and network logs to identify, investigate, and mitigate security risks;
- Supporting security monitoring, threat detection, incident response, and cyber risk management activities;
- Implementing and maintaining security controls aligned with organizational policies and industry frameworks, including NIST and ISO 27001;
- Performing security system updates, patching, hardening, and ongoing maintenance activities;
- Supporting audit, compliance, and regulatory requirements through documentation, reporting, and evidence collection;
- Collaborating with stakeholders to promote cybersecurity awareness and secure technology practices across the University;
- Developing and maintaining security procedures, standards, technical documentation, and operational runbooks; and
- Evaluating, implementing, and supporting new security technologies, tools, and services to strengthen the University's security posture.

Qualifications The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Relevant industry certifications such as Security+, CISSP (or progress toward certification), and Microsoft Security certifications (e.g., SC-200, SC-300) will be considered assets.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Relevant knowledge, skills, and experience include:

- Experience administering enterprise security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, SentinelOne, Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, Entra ID (Azure AD), and Okta;
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices, including threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management;
- Robust understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and network security;




- Experience supporting Windows and Linux operating systems in an enterprise environment;
- Knowledge of cloud security principles and services, preferably within Microsoft Azure environments;
- Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell and/or Python;
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks and standards, including NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Controls;
- Understanding of privacy, data protection, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders;
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to maintaining accurate documentation;
- Ability to manage competing priorities and respond effectively in a dynamic and evolving cybersecurity environment; and
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging cybersecurity threats, technologies, and best practices.

Salary The starting salary will be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education, skills, and experience. The annual salary range for this position is $81,523.00 to $90,582.00. The position is located on campus, in Prince George. Normal hours of work will be 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
