Interior Designer

Location: Edmonton, AB

Type: Full-Time, In-Office

Outline Homes is an Edmonton-based interior design-build firm specializing in residential renovations. We bring interior design, construction, project management, and real estate together under one roof, helping our clients create homes that better fit the way they live.

We’re a small, hands-on team working on a range of residential renovation projects, from kitchens and bathrooms to full-home renovations. We’re looking for an Interior Designer to join our team and work closely with our designers, project managers, clients, trades, and vendors.

As an Interior Designer, you’ll be involved throughout the design process, from initial concepts and space planning through selections, client presentations, procurement, and construction. You should have a strong eye for design, but also be organized, practical, and comfortable managing the details that keep a renovation moving.

What You’ll Do

- Work closely with Principal Designers to develop residential design concepts, floor plans, elevations, and 3D renderings.
- Create design presentations, mood boards, and material palettes.
- Select and source finishes, fixtures, lighting, hardware, furniture, and other project elements.
- Develop designs that balance the client’s aesthetic, lifestyle, budget, and the practical requirements of construction.
- Prepare accurate specifications and selections for projects.
- Participate in client meetings, presentations, site visits, and design consultations.
- Communicate design recommendations and revisions clearly with clients.
- Work closely with project managers, trades, suppliers,

and vendors to ensure designs are executed correctly.
- Review design details on site and help identify issues or changes as projects progress.
- Manage multiple projects and deadlines while keeping design-related tasks moving forward.
- Research products, materials, suppliers, and pricing.
- Request and review quotes and lead times.
- Coordinate samples, selections, orders, and deliveries.
- Maintain accurate project selections, specifications, and procurement information.
- Build and maintain relationships with local suppliers and trade partners.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, selections, and client approvals.
- Keep project information and documentation up to date in our project management systems.
- Assist with budgets, pricing, purchase orders, and other project administration.
- Help maintain our sample library, vendor information, and design resources.

What We’re Looking For

- 2+ years of experience in residential interior design, renovation, or a related field.
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design or a related program.
- Strong understanding of residential design, space planning, materials, finishes, and construction.
- Proficiency in SketchUp, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite. AutoCAD experience is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

- Confident communication and client-facing skills.
- Comfortable working with budgets, pricing, quotes, and procurement.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at once.
- A robust eye for design and a thoughtful approach to problem-solving.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for site visits and showroom appointments.

Personal Attributes

- Have good design instincts but also care about how things actually get built.
- Can work independently but know when to ask questions.
- Take ownership of your work and follow things through.
- Are organized and good at keeping track of details.
- Enjoy working in a small team where everyone contributes.
- Are comfortable in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift.
- Care about creating a great client experience.
- Are curious, resourceful, and willing to figure things out.

What We Offer

- Full-time position based in our Edmonton office.
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Benefits package.
- Paid vacation.
- Professional development opportunities.
- A collaborative, creative, and hands-on work environment.
- The opportunity to work across design and construction and see projects through from concept to completion.
