We are looking for an Intermediate Backend Engineer for a 1 year contract with high possibility of extension. Role is fully remote.

What You'll Do

- Architect, design, implement, and rigorously test backend APIs, software features, and product infrastructure.
- Build and maintain highly scalable, reliable, and secure backend services.
- Develop RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot.
- Design and develop applications using microservices architecture and distributed systems.
- Leverage serverless computing, cloud technologies, and distributed platforms to build robust solutions.
- Work with relational databases including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Utilize AI tools and Large Language Models (LLMs) to accelerate software design, development, testing, and optimization.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
- Develop comprehensive automated tests to ensure software quality and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and contribute to root-cause analysis.
- Research and evaluate new tools, technologies, and testing practices to continuously improve the software development lifecycle.
- Collaborate with engineers, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver high-quality software products.
- Participate in Agile/Lean development practices and contribute to continuous improvement.

Must-Have Qualifications
- 6+ years of hands-on software development experience.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.
- Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot.




- Strong experience building and developing REST APIs for software products.
- Hands-on experience with microservices architecture and development and related tools and technologies.
- Experience working with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and MySQL.
- Experience building scalable, reliable, and secure backend applications.
- Solid understanding of software development methodologies and SDLC.
- Ability and willingness to quickly learn new technologies.
- Experience working in Agile/Lean development environments.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to navigate conflict, influence technical and project outcomes, and provide constructive feedback.
- Ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on with software development.

Nice to Have
- Experience with cloud-native and serverless technologies.
- Experience with distributed systems and highly scalable architectures.
- Experience using AI/LLM tools in software development.
- Experience with additional database, messaging, or distributed-platform technologies.
- Experience working in healthcare, life sciences, genomics, or other highly regulated industries.
- Experience developing software products that directly impact patient care.
