We are seeking an Intermediate Structural Designer based out of our Toronto or Montreal Office, working in a hybrid schedule.
The main purpose of this role is to carry out the discipline design functions which includes and not limited to:
- Preparation of 3D Revit Models for concrete structures from conceptual layouts and engineering designs.
- Prepare 2D drawings, in accordance with the DRA CAD and BIM Standard, related to concrete works such as concrete foundations and structures into practical, fit for purpose drawings, within specified quality and time parameters.
- Meticulously follow and execute established company 3D modelling and drafting templates, asset libraries, and sheet formats mandated by the corporate BIM management team.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the standards, procedures, modelling protocols, and production norms set by the Design Office Management/Global BIM Management, project team and client are implemented in designs.
- Ensure timeous completion of Revit model and 2D drawing deliverables to meet project design schedule.
- Ensure completion of deliverables within project design budget.
- Coordination of the inter-department workflows – design and drawing interface and integration.
- Preparation of IFC drawings.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
- Perform clean extractions of 2D detailed concrete outlines, reinforcement sketches, and foundation plans directly from the managed 3D Revit model.
- Ensure quality standards (Industry, DRA, Client, best practice) are adhered to.
- Manage the filing and archiving, and work-sharing maintenance of design documentation within the common data environment.
- Liaise and co-ordinate with design engineers to ensure adherence to project and client requirements and specifications and design calculations.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Civil/Structural Drafting, Engineering Technology, or equivalent specialized BIM certification
- 5-8 years' experience within a design and construction company in the Mining and/or EPCM Industries.
- Proficiency in computer design programs AutoCAD and Revit 3D
