Hiring: Intermediate Trainer

Location: Edmonton, Alberta, Onsite (5 days per week in office)

Duration: October 1, 2026 – September 30, 2027 (possibility to extend)

Hourly Rate: $55/hour - $70/hour (based on experience)

Client: Public Sector

Responsibilities:

- Lead government-wide 1GX training initiatives by conducting learning needs assessments, defining role-based training strategies, selecting delivery approaches (instructor-led, virtual, blended, and self-paced), and establishing success measures aligned with business outcomes.
- Assess target audiences, job roles, work contexts, and business processes to ensure learning solutions are practical, relevant, and support effective system adoption and performance.
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex learning solutions for diverse audiences, including instructor-led and virtual training, e-learning modules, videos, multimedia content, digital adoption resources, job aids, quick reference guides, and other performance support materials.
- Apply adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, accessibility standards, and user-centred design practices to create transparent, inclusive, engaging, and effective learning experiences.
- Facilitate live and virtual training for technical and non-technical audiences, translating complex system and business processes into plain language and practical workflows.
- Partner with program leadership, business process owners, subject-matter experts, vendors, and the 1GX Change Network to gather and validate requirements, reconcile feedback, confirm readiness, and align delivery timing.
- Manage multiple training initiatives and deliverables, including work planning, prioritization, dependency management, risk identification, progress reporting, and stakeholder communications.
- Establish and follow training governance processes, including intake and prioritization, review and approval cycles, quality assurance,



version control, accessibility reviews, and content maintenance to keep materials accurate and current.
- Evaluate learning effectiveness using learner feedback, assessments, performance measures, adoption indicators, and other data; analyze results and implement continuous improvements.
- Use approved digital adoption, multimedia, collaboration, AI-enabled, and content-development tools to improve analysis, content creation, delivery, learner support, stakeholder engagement, and reporting, while ensuring accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and compliance with Government of Alberta policies and standards.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and mentorship to junior trainers and contributors to promote consistent delivery, strong instructional design practices, and high-quality learning products.

Must Haves:

- University graduation in a related field (such as Adult Education, Instructional Design, Business Administration or related) plus Two (2) years progressively responsible related experience OR diploma in a related field and a minimum Four (4) years of progressively responsible work experience; or equivalent as described below.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 2 years of experience

- 2 years’ experience conducting learning needs analysis, audience and role assessment, work-context analysis, and requirements gathering to support practical, role-based learning solutions.
- 2 years’ experience designing, developing, implementing,



and maintaining end-to-end learning solutions, including instructor-led, virtual, e-learning, multimedia, job aids, and performance-support resources.
- 2 years’ experience facilitating instructor-led and virtual training for diverse technical and non-technical audiences using plain language, demonstrations, activities, and learner-engagement techniques.

Desired Skills:

- 2 years’ experience designing or configuring digital adoption, embedded guidance, walkthroughs, contextual support, or in-application performance support using WalkMe or a comparable digital adoption platform.
- 2 years’ experience developing accessible e-learning, instructional video, audio, or multimedia content using Articulate 360, Rise, Captivate, Camtasia, Canva, Vyond, Adobe tools, or comparable products.
- 2 years’ experience gathering requirements, facilitating reviews, reconciling competing feedback, and working with subject-matter experts and stakeholders to deliver quality learning solutions within timelines.
- 2 years’ experience using AI-enabled tools to support instructional design, analysis, content development, or communications while validating outputs for accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and organizational standards.
- 2 years’ experience using learner feedback, assessments, performance measures, adoption indicators, or other evaluation methods to assess training effectiveness and improve learning solutions.
- 2 years’ experience with ERP systems training, such as Finance, HCM or Payroll, Supply Chain Management, SAP, Oracle, Workday, 1GX, or a comparable enterprise system.
