In close collaboration with the production and development teams, the IT Lead at BMAD Inc. is responsible for overseeing the technical evaluation, implementation, and continuous optimization of all IT operations. This role ensures the seamless functioning and evolution of our IT infrastructure, critical to supporting our high-performance computing, rendering, and real-time immersive experiences and AI/ML-driven workflows. The IT Lead is instrumental in architecting robust network systems and efficiently allocating both human and technical resources to meet the unique demands of the Visual Effects and Video Games pipeline.
Highly methodical, organized, and detail-oriented, this position involves coordinating multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet deadlines, stay within budget, and align with production needs—all while maintaining a strategic focus on long-term technological goals and innovation.Responsibilities:
- Lead the IT team in designing, deploying, and maintaining high-performance computing environments optimized for virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR), Visual Effects, Animation, and Video Games.
- Manage and optimize storage solutions for large datasets, ensuring fast access and high availability of resources. This includes implementing and maintaining scalable storage systems, such as NAS, to handle the vast amounts of data required for our immersive technology projects.
- Facilitate the seamless integration of industry-standard tools and software used in Visual Effects and Video Games, including Autodesk Maya, Unreal Engine, Unity, Blender, Nuke and others.
- Guide the IT team in aligning infrastructure with evolving production needs, driving technological advancements, and maintaining high operational standards.
- Oversee architecture and network infrastructure to ensure high-speed data transfer and stable connectivity across departments and remote locations, while optimizing performance, resolving connectivity issues, and supporting secure remote access.
- Manage and implement backup and disaster recovery solutions to safeguard critical project data, ensuring data integrity, minimizing loss, and facilitating quick recovery in the event of an incident.
- Work closely with production supervisors and other key stakeholders to understand the technical requirements of ongoing projects and optimize workflows to ensure efficient and effective production processes.
- Develop and enforce security measures to protect intellectual property and sensitive data, ensuring robust defences against unauthorized access and data breaches.
- Continuously monitor advancements in IT and production related technologies to enhance infrastructure and workflows, ensuring that the company's systems and processes remain cutting-edge and effective.
- Keep comprehensive records of IT systems, processes, and troubleshooting procedures to ensure clarity, consistency, and effective management of the company's technology infrastructure.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts for software, hardware, and IT services.
Qualifications:
- Demonstrated expertise in an IT management or leadership role, ideally within the Visual Effects, Video Games, or Digital Film Production Industries.
- Extensive experience with high-performance computing, server management, and network architecture.
- Experience managing large-scale storage systems (NAS) and understanding of data management best practices.
- Expertise in cloud services and hybrid infrastructures for scalability and remote work.
- Excellent ability to address complex issues with attention to detail and effective solutions, coupled with the capability to work under pressure in fast-paced environments. Proficient in Python scripting to automate tasks and streamline processes.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across departments.
- A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred.
