Gentech Field Services is a growing power generation company specializing in the sales, service, maintenance, repair, inspection, commissioning, and rental of diesel generators and fire pump systems.

We support commercial and industrial clients where reliable power is critical to their operations.

The Prospect

We are seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician with substantial hands-on generator experience in service, troubleshooting, diagnostics, and commissioning.

This is not a traditional construction electrician or entry-level power generation role. You must be capable of independently diagnosing electrical, control, and operational issues.

Technical ability matters, but so does attitude. We are looking for a team player who is coachable, receptive to feedback, takes pride in their work, and is willing to both share their knowledge and learn from others.

You will work alongside Heavy Duty Technicians on generator service, repairs, installations, commissioning, ATS systems, load testing, rental installations, and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities

· Service, troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain generator systems

· Diagnose electrical, control, starting, charging, and operational faults

· Perform generator startup, testing, commissioning, and load bank testing

· Perform preventative maintenance and inspections

· Inspect, troubleshoot, maintain, and commission ATS systems

· Complete generator, ATS,



rental generator, temporary power, and site electrical installations

· Read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams

· Work alongside Heavy Duty Technicians on electrical and mechanical troubleshooting and repairs

· Respond to emergency service calls and participate in the on-call rotation

· Communicate professionally with clients and complete accurate service reports

· Support apprentices and contribute to team development

Required Qualifications

- Journeyman Electrician certification; Red Seal preferred
- Demonstrated experience servicing, troubleshooting, and commissioning generators
- Ability to independently diagnose generator electrical, control, and operational faults
- Strong electrical troubleshooting skills
- Strong ability to read electrical schematics and control diagrams
- Experience performing Megger testing on electric motors
- Strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable working around diesel engines
- Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and client service skills
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation

Preferred Experience

- CSA C282 inspections and testing
- ATS troubleshooting and commissioning
- Load bank testing
- Temporary power installations
