Compositor — Junior & Mid-Level

FOLKS is hiring Compositors at both Junior and Mid-Level to join our Compositing team. In this role, you'll deliver final composite images through CG integration, keying, colour grading, and image delivery — working closely with Lighting, FX, DMP, Roto & Prep, and Production across multiple locations to bring shots to final quality on schedule.

Responsibilities

- Integrate CG characters, FX elements, and 2D elements into plate photography
- Pull keys, despill, and perform edge work for bluescreen/greenscreen shots
- Apply colour correction and grading to match plate lighting and continuity
- Self-QC your work for edge quality, stable mattes, grain, and frame-to-frame continuity before submitting
- Troubleshoot common comp and pipeline issues, escalating to Pipeline/TDs when needed
- Present work in dailies and respond to supervisor feedback
- Mid-Level:



work independently on moderately complex shots, tech check others' work, troubleshoot Nuke scripts and render performance, and script in Python to streamline repetitive tasks
- Mid-Level: provide guidance and technical support to junior artists

Requirements

- Junior: foundational knowledge of CG integration, keying, and colour grading; familiarity with Nuke and Mocha; strong attention to detail and eagerness to learn
- Mid-Level: proven compositing experience in VFX production; solid proficiency in Nuke and Mocha; basic Python scripting; ability to work autonomously and meet deadlines
- Both: solid communication skills, comfort working across time zones, and (a plus) experience with RV or similar playback tools
