Position Overview The District of Fort St. James is seeking a full-time, permanent, Legislative Assistant. The successful candidate will report to the Corporate Officer.
The Legislative
Assistant is responsible for assisting the Corporate Officer with council meetings and agenda packages, facilitating meeting invites, meeting minutes, research, community engagement, completing reports, registration and travel arrangements for elected officials and staff, assisting with the Front Counter, and some accounts payable.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a Diploma/Certificate from a post-secondary administrative program with at least 3 years experience, or a combination of equivalent experience and education. Knowledge of and experience in a local government setting is an asset. Ability to work in a formal environment maintaining professional relationships and confidentiality.
Applicants would have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, have strong verbal and written communications skills, and possess a Class 5 Driver’s License.
Additional Information
This is a permanent full-time union position offering 35 hours of work per week, the hourly rate is $35.56 with 4% in lieu of vacation,
after the successful completion a 90-day probationary period with District offers a comprehensive benefits and pension plan.
The successful candidate will be required to undergo a criminal record check.
