PURPOSE: We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Primary Packing Line Lead. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient running of the main Packaging Line for many different items that are made to company inventory needs and Customer Orders. The line lead is responsible to ensure that all Orders running on the line are to Specifications (Customer and MMS Standards) by all production line packers.
This position communicates and co-ordinates with all other Production Floor Leads to maximize productivity and minimize/eliminate errors.
This position requires a combination of clear verbal communication skills to a diverse team, people skills to own the accountability of the full packing line performance to required Standards, organization , exact record keeping and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Line Management & Execution
· Make Product according to Product Specifications Binder and per current Line Designs, adjusting lines for the staff required
· Direct line setup and teardown, ensuring all machinery is calibrated and sanitized before the shift begins.
· Monitor real-time line speed and output to ensure the team hits hourly production targets , per schedule where there is one.
· Troubleshoot minor mechanical adjustments on the fly to prevent small hiccups from becoming major downtime.
· Oversee product changeovers, coordinating the quick transition between different flavors, sizes, or packaging types.
· Work with Floor Coordinator to document and improve line designs and work instructions
· Actively participate on the line, watch for issues that need coaching or retraining
· Direct line staff on other to do’s when free time
Quality & Food Safety Compliance
· Perform regular quality checks (e.g., weight verification, seal integrity, etc) and document results in the batch record.
· Enforce Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), ensuring all team members are wearing proper PPE and following sanitation protocols.
· Verify label accuracy, confirming that the correct lot codes, expiration dates and other information are printed on all finished goods.
· Empower "Stop Work" authority if a food safety or worker safety risk is identified on the line.
Team Leadership & Training
· Train new hires and "guest staff" on specific station tasks, safety hazards,
and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
· Assign staff to specific tasks within the line to balance workload and prevent ergonomic fatigue.
· Conduct end-of-shift debriefs, reporting on total units produced, scrap/waste percentages, and any equipment issues.
· Motivate the crew to maintain high morale and focus during high-volume or repetitive shifts.
Material & Waste Control
· Monitor raw material usage to ensure ingredients are being used efficiently and within formula specifications.
· Track and minimize "shrink" (waste) by identifying where product is being lost or damaged during the packaging process.
· Communicate material shortages immediately to the Material Handler or Floor Coordinator to avoid line stoppages.
Training and Backups
· Shadow training new team members when needed
· Provide cross-functional support by acting as a backup for various Production floor positions in which documented training has been completed.
Food Safety and Quality Assurance
· Ensuring team adherence to food safety and quality assurance (QA) procedures
· Supporting staff training by Quality Supervisor
· Other duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Required Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated leader who easily interacts with others and is adept at encouraging and motivating a diverse team
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Work, Outlook)
- Sound mathematical abilities
- Ability to work under pressure and perform job duties in an accurate and efficient manner
- Ability to work independently with minimum supervision
- Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA)
- Proven effectiveness working as part of a diverse team
- Manual dexterity for packing and accenting, casing cookies is required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience working in baking industry
- Previous experience in a bakery or food production environment preferred
Education/Training, Credentials and Experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT & EXPECTATIONS:
- Temperatures that may be considered above “room temperature” and not to exceed 26C

- Smells include butter, sugar, chocolate, maple syrup, nuts. Must be free from allergies to any of these products
- Flexibility to work days, nights, and weekends if needed (frequently happens September - December)
- Ability to work and stand for long hours and to lift up to 25 lbs
- Intermittent loud sounds lasting approximately 20 minutes at a time throughout the day (compressor machinery). Ear protection is provided when on the loading dock
