Position Summary

New Westminster Surgical Centre is seeking an LPN to provide high-quality nursing care to patients throughout their surgical journey, from pre-admission assessment to post-operative recovery and discharge. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver safe, efficient, and patient-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct pre-admission assessments, including health history reviews, medication reconciliation, and patient screening.
- Coordinate required diagnostic testing and communicate significant findings to physicians.
- Admit and prepare patients for surgery, ensuring all preoperative requirements are completed.
- Monitor, assess, and provide nursing care to patients in the post-operative recovery phase.
- Administer medications and treatments in accordance with physician orders and nursing standards.
- Provide discharge education to patients and families, including medications, wound care, and follow-up instructions.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and participate in care planning.
- Collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
- Promote a safe clinical setting and participate in quality improvement and professional development initiatives.




- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Pay range: $33 to $40/hr

Qualifications

- Current registration as an LPN in good standing with the applicable regulatory body.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS is an asset. Skills & Experience

- Minimum one year of recent acute care nursing experience.
- Previous experience in Pre-Admission, Day Surgery, PACU, or Post-Operative nursing is preferred.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, communication, and organizational skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative surgical environment while delivering exceptional patient-centred care.
