Role Description The Machinist Class A role is a full-time, on-site position located in Greater Sudbury, ON. The person in this role sets up and operates manual and CNC machine tools to produce precision parts according to engineering drawings and work orders. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting blueprints, selecting appropriate tooling and materials, performing accurate measurements, and maintaining tight tolerances on medium to large components.

The role also involves performing routine equipment checks, troubleshooting machining issues, and collaborating with supervisors and peers to meet production and quality targets.

The Machinist

Class A is expected to follow all safety protocols,



contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and complete documentation associated with work performed.

Qualifications

- Strong machining skills, including setup and operation of manual and CNC machines, with the ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Proficiency in measurement and inspection using tools such as micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy.
- Experience with metal fabrication processes, including handling medium to large components, basic welding awareness, and understanding of shop practices.
- Solid mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to diagnose and resolve machining and equipment issues efficiently.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and ISO 9001 standards, with careful attention to detail and documentation requirements.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced industrial setting, including effective communication with coworkers and supervisors.
- Relevant trade certification or apprenticeship as a Machinist (or equivalent combination of training and experience); experience in heavy industrial or manufacturing settings is an asset.
- Willingness to work assigned shifts, overtime as needed, and adapt to changing production priorities.
