Hyatt Regency Vancouver is seeking a dedicated, experienced, detail-oriented skilled to join the Engineering team as Maintenance Manager. In this role, the Maintenance Manager supports the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering in coordinating the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. The position plays an important role in assigning, tracking, and following up on maintenance work, coordinating preventive maintenance programs, supporting contractors and vendors, and ensuring the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and building systems remain safe, reliable, effective, and well maintained.

The Maintenance Manager works closely with Engineering colleagues and operational departments across the hotel to address maintenance priorities, respond to guest and colleague needs, minimize disruption to hotel operations, and ensure work is completed in accordance with Hyatt standards, manufacturer recommendations, health and safety requirements, and applicable codes and regulations.

Salary range: 72,800 – 76,000 per year

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

- Coordinate daily Engineering and Maintenance activities, ensuring work orders and service requests are properly assigned, tracked, documented, and completed in a timely manner.
- Monitor maintenance requests through HotSOS, ensuring accurate updates, effective follow-up, and timely closure.
- Coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for hotel equipment and facilities, including guestrooms, public areas, kitchens, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, elevators, life-safety systems, BAS, and building infrastructure.
- Assist the Director of Engineering and Assistant Director of Engineering with daily operations, scheduling, planning, reporting, and administrative responsibilities.
- Assign work to the Engineering team in the absence of the Director of Engineering or Assistant Director of Engineering.
- Communicate with Engineering, Front Office, Housekeeping, Food & Beverage, Security, and other departments regarding maintenance concerns, priorities, shutdowns, and equipment outages.




- Assist with guestroom maintenance, room inspections, out-of-order rooms, and engineering-related guest requests to minimize disruption to hotel operations.
- Coordinate contractor and vendor visits, including scheduling access, work permits, site requirements, safety procedures, and follow-up on completed work.
- Maintain accurate records related to inspections, preventive maintenance, equipment servicing, warranties, contracts, invoices, and regulatory compliance.
- Assist with purchase orders, quotations, invoices, parts ordering, and tracking of Engineering-related expenses.
- Monitor inventory levels for Engineering parts, tools, supplies, and consumables, and coordinate replenishment as required.
- Support energy-management initiatives by monitoring building systems and identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly Engineering reports, maintenance updates, and outstanding-work summaries for management review.
- Assist with departmental meetings, training coordination, staff communication, and the maintenance of Engineering procedures and documentation.
- Create and manage Vision Line access for hotel staff in accordance with established security procedures.
- Create Key Watcher access for hotel staff and conduct weekly audits to monitor and track issued keys.
- Ensure all Engineering work is completed in accordance with Hyatt standards, health and safety requirements, manufacturer recommendations, and applicable laws, codes, and regulations.
- Follow up on safety deficiencies and ensure corrective actions are properly documented and completed.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling departmental records, vendor information, invoices, access-control records, and operational matters.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Engineering leadership team and perform other duties as assigned.

Visa Requirements: Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The hotel is unable to assist candidates in obtaining Canadian work authorization.

Qualifications

- College degree or high school diploma in Technical, Trade, or Vocational
- Fourth Class Power Engineering certification is preferred and considered an asset, but not required
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a hotel or related industry

- Minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience within a hotel environment
- Must be available to work various shifts especially weekends and holidays (including graveyard shifts) as required by business needs
- Strong knowledge of building operations, including HVAC central plant systems, refrigeration, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read technical drawings and manage day-to-day operations
- Working knowledge of Opera PMS, Birchstreet purchasing, CMMS preventive maintenance systems, VisionLine or Saflok key systems, and HotSOS
- Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
- High -energy, entrepreneurial, and solutions-oriented leader who motivates teams, communicates effectively, and consistently delivers exceptional customer service
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer office systems is required
- Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills (both spoken and written)

PHYSICAL ASPECTS OF POSITION (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO):

- Constant standing and/or sitting throughout shift
- Frequent walking throughout the shift
- Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling and lifting (up to 50lbs)
- Occasional ascending or descending stairs and ramps
