Overview
Acres of Eden Ventures Ltd. is seeking an experienced Manufacturing & Operations Manager – Food Processing & R&D; to support the continued growth of our food-processing and edible-oil manufacturing operations in Squamish, British Columbia.
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, organizing, overseeing, and evaluating manufacturing operations, including production planning, process performance, equipment utilization, operating efficiency, product quality, food safety, and manufacturing costs.
This position also provides technical leadership for research and development activities involving new and improved food and edible-oil products, process development, production scale-up, manufacturing feasibility, and commercialization.
The role works closely with company ownership, production personnel, technical staff, laboratories, consultants, suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and oversee daily food-processing and edible-oil manufacturing operations, including production priorities, schedules, materials, and equipment requirements.
- Lead process-improvement initiatives to improve productivity, product consistency, yield, manufacturing efficiency, and cost performance.
- Oversee R&D; and product-development projects for new and improved food and edible-oil products, including technical trials, process scale-up, and transition to commercial production.
- Review manufacturing workflows, process performance, material utilization, production losses, and operating data, and direct corrective or improvement actions.
- Evaluate processing equipment and manufacturing technologies and recommend or implement improvements to equipment, processes, and production systems.
- Oversee food-safety, quality, and process-control activities, including HACCP procedures, SOPs, production records, and corrective actions.
- Coordinate manufacturing-related regulatory and certification activities, including applicable CFIA, HACCP, Organic, and Non-GMO requirements.
- Manage manufacturing costs, production resources, inventory requirements, and operational priorities.
- Coordinate technical employees, contractors, laboratories, suppliers, and service providers involved in manufacturing, R&D;, and process-improvement activities.
- Support recruitment, training, and development of manufacturing and technical personnel.
- Work with ownership and management on manufacturing capacity, commercialization, equipment investment, and operational growth.
Education
Required:
- University degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering,
Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Food Technology, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
Required:
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in food processing, manufacturing, production, product development, process engineering, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
- Experience in manufacturing operations, production planning, process improvement, or production management.
- Experience coordinating technical or operational projects across multiple functional areas.
- Experience evaluating manufacturing performance, production efficiency, material utilization, process losses, and operating costs.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment, process technologies, production systems, or equipment-improvement projects.
- Experience coordinating manufacturing, technical, quality, contractor, supplier, or project resources.
Strongly Preferred:
- Previous experience in production management, manufacturing management, operations management, R&D; management, or senior technical leadership.
- Experience in food, beverage, edible-oil, dairy, ingredient, nutraceutical, or related food-manufacturing environments.
- Experience taking new products or processes from R&D; through pilot and commercial-scale production.
- Experience with HACCP, GMP, CFIA-regulated food operations, or similar food-safety and regulatory systems.
- Experience coordinating laboratories, technical consultants, suppliers, equipment manufacturers, or external service providers.
- Experience with manufacturing budgeting, cost analysis, capacity planning, and continuous improvement.

Work Environment
- Work is primarily performed at the company’s manufacturing facility in Squamish, BC.
- Regular presence in production and manufacturing areas is required.
- The role may involve working around food-processing and packaging equipment, storage areas, laboratories, contractors, and service technicians.
- Occasional local travel may be required for supplier, laboratory, audit, certification, customer, or technical activities.
- Food-safety, hygiene, and workplace-safety procedures must be followed.
Language Professional proficiency in English is required for operational communication, technical documentation, supplier coordination, regulatory interaction, and management responsibilities.
Compensation
$55.00–$65.00 per hour
Compensation will be determined based on education, technical qualifications, manufacturing-management experience, food-industry experience, R&D; and commercialization experience, and overall leadership experience.
