Position Overview We believe that it is through the power of our amazing people that the #YSavesLives. By joining the Health, Fitness, Aquatics & Residence team, you will contribute to making our Y the best place to work. The Master Swim Coach is responsible for providing advanced swim instruction and stroke development training to swimmers seeking to improve their technique, efficiency, endurance, and overall performance in the water. Working with intermediate recreational swimmers, competitive swimmers, and triathletes, this role focuses on stroke correction, technical skill development, individualized feedback, and progressive training plans designed to help participants achieve their swimming goals.

What You’ll Do:
- Advanced Swim Instruction & Coaching- Deliver private and small-group swim coaching sessions focused on stroke mechanics, technique refinement, endurance development, and performance improvement for intermediate, competitive, and triathlon swimmers. Adapt instructions to meet individual participant goals and abilities.
- Participant Assessment & Individualized Training Plans- Conduct swim assessments, analyze stroke efficiency, identify areas for improvement, and develop personalized training plans with measurable goals. Monitor progress and adjust programming as needed.
- Performance Feedback & Skill Development- Plan lesson content, training progressions, and seasonal programming. Maintain participant records, track performance outcomes, prepare session plans, and communicate progress with swimmers and families as appropriate.
- Safety, Member Experience & Facility Support - Ensure adherence to YMCA aquatic safety standards and policies, promote a positive and inclusive learning environment, respond to member inquiries, and support overall aquatic program excellence.
What You'll Bring:
- Minimum of 2 years of swim coaching or advanced swim instruction experience with intermediate, competitive, or endurance-focused swimmers. Three (3) years field experience with a minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience in managing front-line staff.
- Demonstrated experience providing individualized coaching, stroke analysis, and performance-focused swim training. Strong interpersonal skills.
- Intermediate First Aid with CPR-C (current).
- National Lifeguard Certification YMCA Swim Instructor Certification or equivalent recognized swim instruction certification.
- Current Criminal Reference Judicial Matters Check (CRJMC) as required by YMCA policy.
- Strong knowledge of swimming fundamentals, stroke mechanics, and aquatic safety practices.
- Ability to assess swimmer ability and provide corrective feedback to improve technique.
- Effective coaching, instructional, and communication skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with participants of varying ages and abilities.
- Ability to develop and deliver structured swim lessons and training sessions.
