Company Description: Upper Canadian Campaigns is a freshly formed venture kicked off by Charlie Dickson and Ethan Scullion, in search of a third to complete the trio. At its core, UCC’s mission is to lead an annual 10-day hiking trip across different areas of what today is called Southern Ontario. What separates us from other hiking tours is our combined emphasis on education, and physical fitness.

Members who come along will learn both the human and natural histories of the areas we hike, taught by our experts along the way (Charlie in Canadian history, and in Natural history - you!). For example, on a trip from Orangeville to Niagara along the Bruce Trail, they will learn about such topics as the war of 1812, and the geological history of the escarpment. Our ‘depot man’, Ethan, will be delivering food, tents, and other supplies each day, making sure we have everything we need.

This is a seasonal business, but as the UCC Naturalist, it is your job to prepare beforehand in order to make it the best and most educational trip possible.

- Co-leading a 10 day Hike in mid to late August, frequently speaking and educating the group on your passion, research and specialty.
- Planning on and off the hiking trail in the weeks/months leading up to the trip. The amount of planning will be based on your confidence level.
- $3,000 earnings per Campaign (so, per season).

Qualifications:

- Must be around an area nearby southern the Niagara Escarpment for the Spring/Summer of 2027 in order to prepare, and be available for 10 days in mid to late August for the Campaign.
- Must be in valuable physical shape; ability to hike 25km a day in 8 hours for 10 days straight.
- Should possess aspects of the following characteristics: Enthusiasm, Intelligence, Diligence, Discipline.
- A degree in Geology, Ecology or related fields is an asset, though not necessary if sufficiently educated from another source.

Pay: $3,000.00 per year
