About VanKids Pediatric Therapy

VanKids Pediatric Therapy Inc. is a pediatric therapy clinic in Richmond, BC providing occupational therapy services to children and youth ages 2–19.

We use a play-based, child-centred, and neurodiversity-affirming approach to help children develop skills in areas such as sensory processing, fine motor skills, gross motor skills, attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, and daily living activities.

We are looking for a Part-Time Occupational Therapy Assistant / Therapy Office Assistant to join our growing team.

This is a combined therapy support and administrative position for someone who enjoys working with children and is comfortable supporting both therapy sessions and the day-to-day operations of a pediatric therapy clinic.

Position Details

- Position: Occupational Therapy Assistant / Therapy Office Assistant
- Job Type: Part-time
- Pay: $21.00–$25.00 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications
- Location: Richmond, BC
- Work Setting: In person
- Schedule: Weekday after-school hours and Saturdays
- Saturday Availability: Required
- Weekday Availability: Some weekday afternoon/early evening availability is required

Schedule & Availability This is a part-time position with a combination of Saturday hours and weekday after-school hours (3PM-7PM).

Candidates must have regular availability on Saturdays and be available for some weekday afternoon/early evening shifts to support our after-school therapy schedule.

Candidates with flexible availability and the ability to commit to a consistent weekly schedule are preferred.

Responsibilities

Occupational Therapy Assistant Duties The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) will work under the supervision and direction of the Occupational Therapist (OT) to support the delivery of individualized pediatric occupational therapy services.

The OTA will work directly with clients on a 1:1 basis, carrying out intervention strategies and activities outlined in the OT’s treatment plan. Responsibilities may include:

- Implementing individualized OT intervention plans developed by the supervising OT.
- Providing 1:1 therapeutic support to children and youth during clinic, school, home, or community-based sessions.
- Supporting development of fine motor, gross motor, sensory processing, visual-motor, executive functioning, self-regulation, activities of daily living, feeding, toileting, dressing, and other functional skills identified in the OT treatment plan.




- Using play-based and child-centred activities to support therapeutic goals.
- Modifying activities within the established intervention plan based on the client’s engagement, abilities, and responses, while consulting with the supervising OT as needed.
- Monitoring and documenting client participation, performance, progress, and responses to intervention.
- Communicating observations and relevant client updates to the supervising OT.
- Participating in regular supervision, training, and consultation with the supervising OT.
- Maintaining skilled boundaries, confidentiality, and appropriate clinical documentation.

The OTA does not independently assess, diagnose, determine occupational therapy goals, or develop treatment plans. Intervention is carried out under the direction and supervision of the OT, with the OT maintaining responsibility for assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment planning, and ongoing oversight of services.

Therapy Office Assistant Duties

- Greet children and families in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer phone calls and respond to basic client inquiries
- Assist with appointment scheduling and coordination (Jane)
- Assist with filing and organizing client information
- Prepare forms, handouts, and therapy materials
- Organize office supplies and clinic materials
- Assist with general administrative and clerical tasks
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming clinic
- Assist with basic data entry and documentation
- Support the therapist with other administrative duties as needed

Qualifications

- Experience working with children is an asset
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, punctual, responsible, and organized
- Patient, friendly, and comfortable working with children
- Comfortable working with children with autism, ADHD, developmental delays, and other developmental differences
- Able to follow instructions and work independently
- Comfortable working in an active pediatric therapy environment
- Previous experience in a pediatric, healthcare, school, daycare, or therapy setting is an asset
- Fluency or proficiency in a second language is an asset
- Ability to commit to regular Saturday hours




- Availability for some weekday after-school/early evening hours

- Other related fields

The ideal candidate is someone who can comfortably switch between helping with a therapy session and completing an administrative task. You should be comfortable being active, playing with children, organizing therapy materials, communicating professionally with families, and helping keep the clinic running smoothly.

The successful candidate should be able to work professionally with children, families, and healthcare professionals while maintaining a positive and welcoming setting.
