About the Role The Aquatarium is looking for an enthusiastic, reliable, and outgoing Program Facilitator to join our Education Team!

Program Facilitators help bring the Aquatarium experience to life by engaging with guests, delivering animal presentations, leading educational activities, supporting interactive exhibits, and sharing the stories of the wildlife, history, and environment of the 1000 Islands and St. Lawrence River region.

This position is primarily intended to provide weekend support, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts throughout the year for school and group programs, camps, special events, staff coverage, and other programming.

What You'll Do

As a Program Facilitator, you will:

- Deliver fun, hands-on educational activities for children, families, school groups, and visitors of all ages.
- Lead daily animal presentations and demonstrations featuring the Aquatarium's resident animals.
- Speak in front of groups using a microphone and prepared scripts.
- Lead engaging and informative tours of the Aquatarium.
- Share information about local wildlife, science, environmental studies, geography, and the history of the 1000 Islands region.
- Facilitate crafts, games, interactive exhibits, and other learning activities.
- Answer guest questions and help visitors get the most out of their Aquatarium experience.
- Adapt activities and presentations for different ages and audiences.
- Assist with school programs, camps,



group visits, and special events.
- Work collaboratively with Education staff, volunteers, and other Aquatarium team members.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development.
- Assist with program setup, teardown, exhibit resets, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
- Follow all health, safety, risk-management, and animal welfare procedures.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Manager of Education.

Qualifications We're looking for someone who is dependable, comfortable interacting with the public, and excited to learn.

Qualifications include:

- Proven ability to read, write, and speak English clearly to follow safety instructions and signage and communicate effectively with staff and guests.
- Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team, coordinating with others to meet deadlines and cleanliness standards.
- Must be available to work weekends, evenings, and occasional overtime or extended hours for special events.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs safely and climb ladders when required.
- Must be comfortable stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
- Comfortable working in proximity to live animals and aquatic environments while following protocols related to noise, contamination prevention,



and animal welfare.
- Strong leadership skills with proven experience managing challenging situations, supported by effective time management, organization, and clear communication abilities.
- Clean and updated Criminal Record Check.
- Updated Standard First Aid and CPR-C would be considered an asset.

Schedule

- Part-time
- Primarily weekend shifts
- Opportunities to pick up additional shifts based on availability and operational needs
- Additional hours may include school/group programs, camps, special events, staff coverage, evenings, and other Education programming
- Primarily indoor work with occasional off-site programming
