This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of the Pediatric Community Rehabilitation Program, providing services to children and families across the Edmonton Area. As a Physiotherapist I (PT I), you will work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide assessment, consultation, and intervention services. The program utilizes a strengths-based, client- and family-centred approach emphasizing functional goal setting, participation outcomes, and family involvement in decision-making.

Pediatric Community

Physiotherapy focuses on health promotion, primary rehabilitation, motor development, play, and environmental factors that influence participation. Clinicians work with children presenting with a wide range of developmental concerns and provide evidence-informed universal, targeted, and individualized services. This role involves partnering with families, health and education providers, and community agencies to support coordinated care planning and service delivery.

The successful candidate may contribute to service planning, quality improvement, mentoring, and student education.

Responsibilities include maintaining clinical documentation, facilitating referrals and connections to community resources, and practicing in accordance with regulatory standards, legislation, organizational policies, procedures, practice guidelines, and workload expectations. Successful completion of observations of clinical practice during the probationary/trial period and annually thereafter is required. Travel throughout the Edmonton Area, including home and community visits, is required.

Description

As the Physiotherapist I (PT),



you will provide therapeutic interventions to enable clients to achieve optimum physical function and independence in development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness and functional decline. You will provide intervention (i.e. prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral and transition support to individuals, groups, populations and communities. You will include clients and families as integral members of the health care team, encouraging their active participation in all aspects of care.

The PT collaborates with patient(s) and families in determining, implementing and evaluating appropriate rehabilitation strategies. You will participate in a variety of interprofessional teams to build awareness, enrich supports and engage in quality improvement; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families and other stakeholders to advance services for their clients. You will contribute to quality improvement and their professional community; participates in peer mentoring; and supervises students.

You may provide clinical supervision to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta.

Additional Required Qualifications

As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate proficiency in: Interpersonal skills, ability to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with team members, including families and community partners. Self-direction, independent problem solving and decision-making, sound clinical judgment and critical thinking skills. Time management and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic, fast paced environment.

Integration of patient and family centered care principles in all areas of practice. Proficiency in computer applications including use of an electronic medical records systems, word processing, email, internet access and data entry. Physical ability to demonstrate/support clients with various movements/positions, support client transfers and lift/carry greater than 20lbs.

Practice according to clinical practice standards and consistent with the Values of AHS: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety. Three years of community-based experience working with children 0-18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with experience with HealthChange Management. Preference will be given to applicants with recent experience and familiarity with community agencies involved with the target population.

Experience working with interdisciplinary teams.

Experience working in Connect Care and/or EMR is considered an asset.
