Position Overview
We are seeking a reliable and experienced poultry farm workers foreman/woman to support and oversee poultry catching operations within a fast-paced agricultural environment. The successful candidate will help ensure that crew activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established animal welfare, biosecurity, and workplace standards. This position plays an important role in coordinating day-to-day catching operations, supporting crew performance, and contributing to the smooth and timely handling and movement of live poultry.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
● Coordinate, assign and supervise the daily work of poultry catching crew members at poultry farms.
● Organize crew schedules and coordinate attendance at assigned farms according to poultry catching and loading schedules.
● Supervise the safe catching, handling and loading of poultry and ensure work is completed efficiently and according to farm requirements.
● Monitor crew members to ensure proper poultry handling, animal welfare, workplace safety and biosecurity procedures are followed.
● Ensure required cleaning, sanitation and disinfection procedures are completed between poultry farm locations.
● Provide instruction and on-the-job guidance to catching crew members regarding safe poultry handling, catching, loading and biosecurity procedures.
● Monitor work performance and report operational, safety, animal welfare or scheduling issues to management.
● Maintain basic crew, work schedule and operational records as required.
● Transport catching crew members to and between assigned poultry farm locations using a company-provided vehicle.
● Participate in poultry catching, handling and loading duties when required to support the crew and complete scheduled farm operations.
Employment Requirements
● Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in poultry catching, poultry handling or similar poultry farm work.
● Previous experience leading, coordinating or supervising a work crew is required.
● Knowledge of safe poultry handling, animal welfare, sanitation and farm biosecurity practices.
● Valid BC Class 5 driver’s licence with a satisfactory driving record.
● Ability to work variable shifts, including overnight and early-morning hours, generally between 1:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
● Must be able to reliably report to designated crew pickup locations in the Abbotsford/Chilliwack area.
● Ability to perform physically demanding poultry catching and loading duties when required.
