The Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI) is a professional, not-for-profit association of executives responsible for communication between public corporations, investors and the financial community. With fourCIRI Chapters and over 300 members across Canada, CIRI is one of the world’s largest societies of investor relations (IR) professionals.
CIRI’s work helps Investor Relations Officers (IROs) practice investor relations (IR) at the highest level. We do this through resources, professional development events, networking opportunities, education and advocacy.

Reporting to CIRI’s Board of Directors (Board), the President & Chief Executive Officer (President & CEO) will combine inspirational leadership and sophisticated management skills to advance the organization in terms of culture, capability, processes and impact. While working closely with CIRI’s high-performance team, the President &CEO; will ensure that the organization meets its objectives, as set forth by the Board.
The mandate for the President & CEO will be multi-dimensional, reflecting the priorities of this important role. At a highlevel, s/he will be an engaging leader, responsible for creating and implementing the appropriate strategy for CIRI, building on and refining the Board’s previously completed strategic review. The new President & CEO will lead revenue development through sponsorship and corporate donations, member programming, and day-to-day administration of the organization.
In addition, s/he will build and maintain strong relationships across CorporateCanada (public corporations, investors, regulators, and the financial community), focusing on growing membership,delivering valuable IR programs and resources, and advancing the overall mission of CIRI.
Top candidates for this position will be either seasoned investor relations professionals or those from a related practice area, with astrong understanding of the needs of IROs and industry leaders. S/he will be known for their strong work ethic and superior organizational and communication skills, while demonstrating an inspirational people leadership style. The President & CEO will possess a strong ‘get it done’ mentality, setting the tone from the top. The candidate will be responsible for executing against a range of priorities:
· Provide executive leadership and organizational management
· Demonstrate strong Board governance
· Ensure financial management and administration
· Lead member benefit planning and execution
· Spearhead human resources planning and management
· Actively engage in external relations and oversee communications
Key Qualifications (Required):
· Mid-to-senior-level leadership roles within investor relations, corporate development or related functional areas within amarket-leading company.
· Solid business acumen and a history of providing visionary leadership at the executive level to past organizations.
· An established track record of success in motivating, recruiting, developing, retaining and mentoring high performance, mission-driven, and results-oriented teams.
· An uncompromised reputation and unimpeachable integrity as a professional, while displaying a strong executive presence.
· Evidence of excellent and persuasive communication skills (written, verbal and public speaking) with well-honed, multidisciplinary project management skills.
· Past work experience in lean, multi-faceted, hands-on environments, with a focus on meeting the needs of key stakeholders (internal & external).
Key Qualifications (Nice to have):
· Material experience serving as CEO, Executive Director or senior leadership role in a related position at a non-profit, foundation, government or industry.
· Proven experience executing organization growth and leading a similarly sized (or larger) successful non-profit and/orrelated entity.
· Exposure to non-profit Boards and working with diverse groups of people.
· Familiarity with diverse business functions such as Marketing, Public Relations, Human Resources and other areas.
· Experience in fundraising for a not-for-profit organization and in building membership.
· Preferably based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and willingness to travel across the country.

· Strong people leadership skills In addition to a university degree, an advanced degree, such as an MBA or JD/LLB/BCL, will be looked upon favourably, as will professional designations, such as the Certified Professional in Investor Relations (CPIR), among others.
