Job Purpose: Responsible for NPI (New Production Introduction), including setting up the production environment with production team, monitor the pilot run, and maintaining documents before mass production. Responsible for customized design projects, generating 3D conceptual drawings/ 2D technical drawings.
Duties and Responsibilities
- New product (including all the new structure designs) validation (structure validation & assembly validation):
- Develop plans for structure & assembly validation.
- Create proper report for each product validation.
- Identifying and resolving issues or defects discovered during the validation process and implement necessary improvements.
- Prepare documents for new product or new process introduction, the documents include:
- Asist on top level BOM for new products before mass production.
- Be able to create proper assembly/operation instructions for recent product/process.
- Be able to create new product/process performance report.
- Lead customized design project: manage the timeline and each milestone to ensure OTD for each project.
- Create conceptual drawing
- Create 2D technical drawing
- Working with supplier for customization parts.
- Mange new test fixture design project, to ensure the feasibility of the design.
- Mange the documents of structure design in NPI project, including but not limited to: 3D drawing, 2D drawing, initial BOM, label design file, packaging design file.
- Lead design change or new material introduction on existing product, and communicate with different suppliers to do design improvement.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline; Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
- 2–3 years of relevant mechanical design experience, preferably in a manufacturing, product development, or engineering environment.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Fusion 360 for 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for technical drawings and design documentation.
- Experience with Adobe Illustrator is considered an asset but is not required.
- Good understanding of mechanical design principles, engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances, and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to create and modify 3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and technical documentation.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work effectively with Engineering, Production, and other cross-functional teams.
