This hands-on role is responsible for converting complex product inquiries and project specifications into accurate commercial estimates. By balancing material costs, manufacturing timelines, and market competitiveness, you will directly drive profitability across both standard catalog offerings and custom-engineered orders.

About the Role

- Cost Analysis & Bid Development: Calculate material requirements, labor inputs, and custom fabrication expenses to construct accurate, profitable project estimates.
- Inter-Departmental Alignment: Coordinate closely with engineering, production, quality control, and logistics to verify technical feasibility and establish realistic delivery timelines.
- Bid Management & Tracking: Monitor pending proposals, field client inquiries, and adjust pricing structures as design parameters or material costs evolve.
- Client Support & Problem Solving: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for key accounts, offering alternative product configurations or value-engineering options when budget or lead time constraints arise.
- Continuous Pricing Integrity: Maintain rigorous accuracy across all cost models to ensure output remains competitive in the market while protecting internal margins.





Qualifications Experience: 2–4+ years of estimating, quotations, or technical sales experience in the commercial lighting , electrical wholesale , or industrial manufacturing sectors.

Technical Proficiency: Ability to read electrical drawings, architectural blueprints, fixture schedules, and single-line diagrams.

Software Skills: Proficiency with ERP/CRM systems, estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, AutoCAD), and advanced MS Excel. Knowledge of lighting calculation tools (AGi32/Visual) is an asset.

Workopolis

Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with Canadian electrical standards (CEC), energy codes (ASHRAE/NECB), and lighting control systems .

Operational Independence: High level of self-direction with proven ability to manage competing priorities under tight delivery deadlines.

Critical Thinking: Meticulous attention to detail with a knack for identifying potential production or cost discrepancies before bids go out.
