Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Project Superintendent to lead and oversee construction projects from inception to completion. This pivotal role involves coordinating all on-site activities, ensuring safety, quality, and schedule adherence. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach, exceptional leadership skills, and a thorough understanding of construction processes to deliver projects efficiently and to the highest standards.
Duties
· Manage and coordinate projects from conception to completion, ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets.
· Efficient use of materials and tools & equipment and contractual performance of the project.
· Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including technicians, engineers, and subcontractors, to ensure seamless project execution.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, project management and scheduling software, with a strong aptitude for adopting innovative technology.
· Monitor and review Plans/Schedules and identify risks, and issues.
· Utilize project master schedule to create detailed look ahead schedules for General Foreman.
· Responsibility for productivity of direct hire trade labour and subcontractors
· Problem-Solving: Identify and address project challenges promptly, working with Project Managers to find effective solutions.
· Foster strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring overall satisfaction.
· Communication: Facilitate communication between various stakeholders, subcontractors, and internal teams.
· Fill out daily time sheets for hours worked by work order for time input for Company billings to the client and the clients’ time system.
· Monitor all site instructions and change notices.
· Champion the Balzer’s Canada health and safety program.
· Oversees the development and implementation of the project safety plan and creates and influences the safety culture on site through leading by example.
· Ensure trades personnel complete all necessary training in areas of safety, quality assurance, technical qualifications, equipment operation and owner specified requirements.
· Responsibility for the implementation and enforcement of safety, quality, and human performance programs
· Review site safety inspections.
· On behalf of Balzer's Canada INC. function as the liaison between the Client or General Contractor
· Advise senior level superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, and schedule difficulties; assist in resolving such problems, as required.
· Ensure all company, department and technical policies, procedures, and standards are adhered to. Interpret policies, as required.
· Maintain a detailed daily job journal with relevant information and documentation.
· Manage several jobs sites that may run concurrently.
· Monitor field productivity levels in accordance with project budget and schedules.
· Perform regular field tours to check work progress and meet with project site personnel.
· Provide daily or weekly updates to the Project Manager/Junior Project Manager/Project Coordinator/General Foreman
· Refer staffing issues to the Project Manager/Junior Project Manager/Project Coordinator for resolution.
· Maintain paperwork such as Weekly Labour Reports, Daily Logs, Safety Forms, etc.
· Accountable for project performance and reviews performance status reports for safety, cost forecast, and schedule.
· Oversees field personnel and works with the Project Team to manage labour.
· Give instructions in an efficient and effective way to his workforce.
· Manage several jobs sites that may run concurrently.
· Supervises and leads workers engaged in all mechanical aspects of construction.
· Respond to client inquiries & concerns, ensuring timely & quality service and follow-up.
· Notify the Project Manager/Junior Project Manager of a change to the scope of work, new or revised drawings, impacts due to access to the work fronts or other impacts that delay or change the project execution plan.
· Reviews and understands all drawings, specifications, and mechanical systems on designated projects.
· Assist in planning work schedule, material quantities and equipment requirements.
· Review shop drawings for scope and detail accuracy.
· Understanding and support of applicable trade agreements.
· Record and submit daily or weekly crew timesheets to the Project Manager/Junior Project/Project Coordinator for approval.
· Monitor and manage risks, develop recovery strategies when project schedule or budget are in jeopardy.
· Identify potential project risk items and work with the project Team to provide corrective measures.
· Develops and coordinates overall project commissioning and closeout.
· Mentor, coach, and train apprentices and journeymen.
· Ensure that timecards are coded correctly to the cost codes.
· Ensures that Balzer’s Canada Inc. policies and project procedures are being adhered to and followed by project personnel.
· Participate in company-wide initiatives aimed at overall continuous improvement.
· Ensure project is constructed in compliance with drawings, specifications, QA Programs, and project quality.
· Accountable for work planning and execution on the project including methods of construction, manpower levels, materials, tools & equipment, rentals, and work schedules.
· Review and provide support in the creation of Construction Work Packages
· Supervise the execution of jobs according to the daily work schedule and assign work in a manner to maximize safety as well as labor productivity.
· Ensuring employees are working safely but efficiently.
· Manages in office tools and equipment.
· The Project Superintendent reports directly to the Project Manager.
Pay: $55.94 per hour
