- Test, commission, maintain, and troubleshoot protection and control systems for transmission, distribution, generation, renewable energy, and industrial facilities
- Perform relay testing, logic verification, functional testing, and commissioning on SEL and other microprocessor-based relay platforms
- Test line, transformer, bus, breaker failure, generator, transfer trip, and communication-assisted protection schemes
- Interpret AC/DC schematics, relay logic, wiring diagrams, protection philosophies, and technical specifications
- Analyze relay event reports, oscillography, fault records, and sequence-of-events data
- Troubleshoot SCADA, communications, control, and substation automation systems
- Lead field activities during outages, maintenance programs, and commissioning projects
- Prepare test procedures, technical reports, deficiency documentation, and corrective-action recommendations
- Communicate technical findings and project updates to customers, engineering teams, and project stakeholders
- Review work and provide technical guidance and on-the-job training to junior technicians
- Perform all work in accordance with company, customer, quality, and safety requirements

Requirements

- Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electrical Power and Controls, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, military training, and relevant industry experience
- Three to five years of protection and control testing, commissioning, or maintenance experience
- Solid knowledge of protective relays, AC/DC schematics, relay logic, substation control circuits, and protection principles




- Experience commissioning transmission or distribution protection schemes
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, documentation, and customer communication skills
- Ability to independently manage assigned field work while meeting safety, quality, schedule, and customer requirements
- Registration or eligibility for registration with ASTTBC preferred
- NETA certification or equivalent electrical testing experience preferred
- Experience with SEL relays, AcSELerator QuickSet, SCADA, IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus, or substation automation preferred
- Current WHMIS, First Aid/CPR/AED, fall protection, confined space, or other relevant safety training preferred
- Knowledge of CSA Z462 or equivalent electrical safety standards preferred
- Ability to travel throughout British Columbia and occasionally to other locations in Canada, including overnight or extended assignments
- Availability to work overtime, evenings, weekends, or statutory holidays when required
- Valid driver’s licence and driving record meeting company and insurer requirements
- Ability to work safely in substations, industrial facilities, construction environments, and outdoor conditions
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment and perform the essential duties, with reasonable accommodation where required




- Ability to stand, walk, climb, bend, crouch, and lift or move equipment weighing up to 23 kilograms or 50 pounds
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
- Successful completion of job-related screening and verification requirements may be required
