Your Opportunity:

The Psychologist II will act as the Rocky Mountain Program Clinical Lead and an active member of the treatment team. The successful candidate will provide Sexual Offender Assessment & Treatment to individuals convicted of such offenses under the Criminal Code of Canada. Provision of clinical services will occur within the context of a correctional institution. The position involves provision of advanced clinical services, consultation to the inter-professional team and may include supervision of doctoral level psychology residents, masters level interns, provisionally registered psychologists and program team members as assigned. The Psychologist II will also facilitate program development, service planning, staff development & supervision, quality improvement and evaluation and/or research activities as identified. The assessment & treatment may include but is not limited to court mandated and court requested forensic psychological services (clinical assessment, court report/risk assessment, treatment and consultation services) to a target population of individuals presently involved with the legal/judicial system. The Psychologist will work effectively in an interdisciplinary setting and also act as a liaison and program representative of forensic services. Work will be performed with a high degree of independence within broad guidelines and in accordance with program and skilled standards.

Description:

As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services (including psychological assessment, diagnosis and/or intervention), consultation and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families,



and/or provides clinical leadership and coordination in an assigned program area. This is an advanced level psychology position that will allow you to work with or within teams to provide and inform services for patients with complex and multi-dimensional medical, psychological, interpersonal, environmental and/or instrumental needs. You will consult, collaborate, and enact initiatives to ensure that practices are evidence based and in alignment with psychology standards of practice and code of ethics, as well as policy, legislation and regulations. You will be expected to lead, facilitate and/or participate in program, policy, and procedure development, service planning, staff development, quality improvement and evaluation, and/or research activities as identified by the needs of the service area(s). You may provide supervision to doctoral level psychology residents, master's level interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists and other team members.

Required Qualifications: Completion of doctoral degree in Psychology in an applied area relevant to the practice setting from a Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) or American Psychological Association (APA) program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Active or eligible for registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of an approved CPA/APA Doctoral internship in Forensic Psychology and/or a concentration focus/emphasis in Mental Health/Forensic Mental Health.

Experience as a Forensic Psychologist (may include clinical residency) within the last 3 years. Knowledge and/or use of current actuarial risk assessment tools and structured professional judgement tools related to forensic mental health. (i.e. HCR-20 V3, STATIC-99R, STABLE, SARA-V3).

Experience writing clinical assessment reports for the purpose of use in legal criminal court/parole board proceedings. Therapeutic skill set working with an offender population. Solid interpersonal communication skills, interviewing techniques and writing skills; solid working knowledge of mental health/mental illness.

Preferred Qualifications:

Minimum 1 year experience as a Registered Psychologist in a mental health setting within the last 5 years or completed Doctoral internship in Forensic Psychology. Community Forensic experience preferred. Training and experience in group therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and other evidence-based modalities.
