Overview
Reporting to the R&D; Director, the R&D; Technician is responsible for assisting a researcher or research team with product development projects and provide support for researchers/research associates on developmental product assignments.
The R&D; Technician performs hands-on formulation and bench work at various scales, including weighing, measuring, mixing, and analytical testing (pH, viscosity, specific gravity), as well as color and olfactive evaluations. The role also involves conducting performance testing in accordance with ASTM standards and SOPs while efficiently managing multiple batches per day with accuracy, consistency, and adherence to laboratory procedures.
Key Responsibilities
· Assist on lab batch preparation for new / existing formulations and ensure maintaining record and document experimental data
· Prepare samples to send for external analysis by third party labs or potential customers
· Assist in Microbial testing and FTIR analysis for raw materials
· Conduct product appraisal and evaluation tests and maintain accurate reports
· Perform analysis and stability testing for the new / alternative raw materials for the current and new formulations
· Assist in the development of test methods and calibration records
· Ensure maintaining consumable stocks and accurate materials list
· Assist in the revision and development of SOP’s,
test methods and specifications
· Maintain GLP practices in the laboratory
Adhere to health and safety procedures
Requirements
· Diploma or bachelor's degree in chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Cosmetic Science, or a related scientific discipline.
· Preferred a minimum of 1 year of experience in R&D; field
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Attention to detail and accuracy

· Adaptability/Flexibility within different experiments
· Good laboratory hands skills
· Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, for recording and analyzing test results.
Additional Skills, good to have:
· Basic understanding of formulation principles, raw materials, concentrations, and scaling formulas from laboratory to larger batch sizes. (In home and personal care applications is preferred)
· Experience scaling formulations from bench scale to pilot or production scale.
· Experience working with a variety of raw materials and chemical ingredients
