Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents’ interests and abilities, including arts and crafts, games, music, and outings
- Foster a positive and welcoming atmosphere that encourages socialization and participation among residents
- Assist residents with mobility or special needs during activities to ensure safety and comfort
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other team members to coordinate activity schedules that complement residents’ care plans
- Maintain accurate records of activities conducted, resident participation, and any observations related to residents’ well-being
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members,
and staff to understand individual preferences and needs
- Support residents with special needs by adapting activities to ensure engagement and safety
Experience
- Prior recreation experience working in assisted living facilities or nursing homes is highly preferred
- Experience caring for seniors or individuals with special needs enhances your ability to connect meaningfully with residents
- Knowledge of brain injury care is advantageous for supporting residents with cognitive challenges
- Background in caregiving roles demonstrates your compassion, patience, and dedication to helping those in need
- Valid RCA certificate and registration with BC Care Aid Registry is a necessity.
- Strong communication skills are essential for building trust and fostering positive interactions with residents and team members
Pay: From $27.92 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
