Duties
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical growth of children
- Create a safe, welcoming classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence
- Collaborate with families to support each child's unique needs and developmental goals
- Maintain accurate records of children's progress, attendance, and daily activities
- Use effective communication skills to engage with children, parents, and team members in a positive manner
- Incorporate bilingual (English and French) strategies to support diverse language learners
- Utilize computer skills for documentation, communication, and program planning purposes
- Lead classroom routines and manage time efficiently to ensure smooth daily operations
- Support children with special needs or disabilities by adapting activities and providing inclusive care
- Uphold licensing standards and health & safety regulations at all times
Experience
- Proven experience working with children in early childhood settings or similar environments
- Knowledge of child development principles and early childhood education best practices
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or special educational needs is highly desirable
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French is preferred to effectively communicate with diverse families
- Demonstrated leadership skills in managing classroom activities and guiding team members
- Solid organizational skills to plan lessons, manage schedules, and maintain detailed records
- Excellent communication skills for writing reports, engaging families, and collaborating with colleagues
- Familiarity with computer operation for documentation, lesson planning, and communication tools
- Prior experience in teaching or childcare roles that involve classroom experience and time management
- Must be registered with the College of ECE.
