Little Scholars Child Care is a community of educators who are passionate about lifelong learning and have a commitment to providing high quality care for every child. We believe that through our responsive environment filled with caring educators, stimulating emergent curriculum and inclusive experiences, every child will be given the tools to reach their full potential.
We are looking for a strong RECE to take on a 14 month contract. The perfect fit for our team is an exceptional, engaged, excited and dedicated educator who has a genuine passion for supporting children's success in learning and has experience working with children between 2 and 4 years of age with varying abilities.
All job duties are performed in accordance with the Program Statement and policies and procedures of Little Scholars Child Care, the Child Care and Early Years Act and the College of ECEs Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice, under the supervision of the Centre Supervisor.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
o Having positive and responsive relationships with each child in your care o Drawing from qualified knowledge of child development, learning theories and pedagogical and curriculum approaches to plan, implement, document and assess child-centered, inquiry and play-based learning experiences o Designing and/or modifying indoor and outdoor learning environments to support children’s self-regulation, independence, reasonable risk-taking, meaningful exploration and positive interactions o Participating in the supervision, training and mentoring of students,
casual employees and volunteers o Ensuring that the environment is safe and accessible for all children and families o Recognizing and responding to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate instruction and behaviour management techniques o Obtaining information and familiarizing yourself with Individual Support/Medical Plans concerning children’s relevant medical conditions, special needs, disabilities, allergies, medication requirements and emergency contact information o Building and maintaining responsive and collaborative relationships with families o Building connections and collaborating with community partners to enhance programs o Establishing safe, consistent routines and foster a warm, inclusive classroom environment o Attending required training and all other relevant professional development opportunities necessary for the position and maintaining qualifications and certifications as required o Working collaboratively with your classroom team and being an active and positive participant of the center o Attending functions, conferences, family events, staff meetings as required o Taking appropriate steps to ensure that all aspects of the classroom and environment complies with Little Scholar’s Program Statement and Philosophy, policies and procedures, public health and licensing standards o Other duties as assigned to support classroom and centre success
Qualifications - Candidates must:
o Hold a Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized Ontario institution o Be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE)
o Have a minimum of 1 year of experience working with young children o Hold a current Vulnerable Sector Check o Provide a current Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED Level C o Share updated immunization records and TB test results o Demonstrated knowledge of domains of childhood development o Have knowledge of the Child Care & Early Years Act (CCEYA)
o Demonstrate an understanding of How Does Learning Happen?, Ontario’s Pedagogy for the Early Years o Apply curriculum theories, observation and documentation techniques o Showcase an ability to establish rapport and utilize excellent written and verbal communication with third parties, colleagues, families and children o Have a capacity to work within a team and participate in supporting the center, colleagues, families and children o Be professional, reliable, flexible and support a team environment

Job Details o Position: Full-time, Contract o Start Date: October 26 2026
o Compensation: $26.00-27.00 per hour o Schedule: 9 hour shifts with a 1 hour lunch break from Monday to Friday o Work Location: In person at 535 Saginaw Parkway, Cambridge, ON
