Mi Cazza Construction

Chatham-Kent

Mi Cazza Construction Inc is seeking a dependable, motivated and versatile individual to join our residential construction team.

This position combines hands-on construction work, site support, home service and project coordination. We are looking for someone who is observant, organized and capable of taking responsibility for the work assigned to them. The successful candidate should have strong problem-solving abilities, good attention to detail and the ability to recognize when something requires attention rather than simply waiting to be directed.

Reliability and accountability are extremely important in this position. We need someone who arrives on time, remembers instructions and follows through on commitments. The successful candidate will also be trusted in customers' homes and with company vehicles, tools, equipment and materials, so care, professionalism and good judgment are essential.

Experience

We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers.

An experienced candidate with a strong residential construction background who can work independently, troubleshoot problems and take responsibility for projects will be considered at the higher end of the compensation range.

We are also willing to train and develop a less-experienced candidate who demonstrates the right attitude, aptitude, reliability and willingness to learn. This may be an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in residential construction.

Previous construction employment is an asset but is not necessarily required. Construction, woodworking or technology courses completed in high school, college or through a skilled-trades program would be considered an asset, particularly if the candidate can demonstrate the practical skills and knowledge they gained.

Responsibilities

Depending on experience and ability, responsibilities may include:

- General residential construction, maintenance and repair work
- Framing and basic carpentry
- Drywall repairs and finishing
- Painting and touch-ups
- Tiling and flooring repairs
- Trim, doors, hardware and finishing work
- Completing deficiencies and preparing recent homes for closing
- Warranty and homeowner service work
- Identifying, diagnosing and resolving construction-related issues
- Monitoring workmanship and identifying items requiring correction
- Coordinating and communicating with trades when required
- Assisting with jobsite organization and scheduling
- Material pickup, delivery and inventory
- Maintaining clean, safe and organized jobsites
- Yard and exterior site cleanup
- Operating a Bobcat/skid steer and other light construction equipment
- Properly caring for company vehicles, tools, machinery and equipment
- Performing other construction and site-related duties as required

Qualifications & Personal Attributes The right candidate will demonstrate:
- Dependability, punctuality and a robust work ethic
- Good memory and the ability to follow through on instructions and outstanding items
- Strong observational skills and attention to detail
- Initiative and the ability to work independently
- Practical problem-solving skills
- Respect for customers' homes and property
- Care and responsibility when using company vehicles, tools and equipment

- Ability to organize and prioritize their workday
- Professional communication with homeowners, coworkers, trades and suppliers
- Willingness to learn new skills and accept constructive direction
- An understanding of residential construction methods and the Ontario Building Code appropriate to their level of experience
- Ability to safely use common hand and power tools
- Valid driver's licence

Experience operating a Bobcat/skid steer or other light equipment is an asset but can be taught to the right candidate.

Compensation

$25.00–$40.00 per hour, based on experience and demonstrated ability.

Compensation will reflect what the successful candidate brings to the position.

A less-experienced candidate with strong potential, reliability and a willingness to learn may enter the position at the lower end of the range and be provided with opportunities to develop additional skills and responsibilities.

A highly experienced candidate who can independently complete skilled construction work, diagnose problems, coordinate trades and take responsibility for projects will be compensated accordingly.

We are looking for someone interested in becoming a valuable long-term member of the Mi Cazza Construction team. For the right candidate, this position offers the opportunity to develop a broad range of residential construction skills and grow into greater responsibility as their knowledge and abilities develop.
