About L.E.X.I.S.

L.E.X.I.S. Respite & Wellness Inc. is a compassionate, person-centred respite and wellness organization supporting individuals and families through individualized care, skill development, and meaningful community participation. We are currently seeking a Respite & Independent Living Support Worker to support a young adult client with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD in developing greater independence and confidence in everyday life.

About the Client

Our client is a verbal, personable and creative young adult attending an ECE program at Sheridan College. She enjoys arts and crafts, music, dance, drawing, painting and working with children. She is physically independent and does not require hands-on personal care. Her primary areas of support are executive functioning, routine development, daily living skills, organization and emotional regulation.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will provide individualized support with:

- Developing and maintaining daily routines
- Task initiation and completion Organization and time management
- Meal planning and preparation
- Medication reminders/prompts, within the scope of the role and L.E.X.I.S. policies
- Personal hygiene routines Laundry, cleaning and household responsibilities
- Scheduling and managing appointments
- Organizing school and work responsibilities
- Developing problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Supporting emotional regulation and coping strategies
- Encouraging community participation and independence
- Providing companionship and engaging in the client's preferred activities
- Supporting the client to gradually reduce reliance on family prompting
- Maintaining accurate and professional documentation of services provided





Support Approach The successful candidate must be calm, patient, respectful and non-confrontational. The client may become overwhelmed by unexpected changes or waiting. During periods of significant emotional dysregulation, she may require space, reassurance, reduced demands and time to process.

The worker must be comfortable following an individualized support plan and using positive, person-centred and independence-focused strategies.

This position is about teaching and supporting, not doing everything for the client. We want someone who can provide appropriate prompts while helping the client build the skills and confidence to complete tasks independently.

Qualifications & Experience

We are looking for someone with experience or education in one or more of the following:

- Personal Support Worker (PSW)
- Developmental Service Worker (DSW)
- Behavioural Science / Behavioural Support
- Social Work Nursing
- Early Childhood Education Disability Studies
- Psychology or a related field

Experience supporting individuals with ASD and/or ADHD is strongly preferred. Experience with the following is an asset:

- Executive functioning challenges
- Young adults with developmental disabilities
- Emotional regulation and de-escalation Independent living skills
- Community-based support
- Behavioural support Life skills coaching

Required

- Current First Aid & CPR




- Vulnerable Sector Check
- Reliable transportation is an asset Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work independently while following a support plan
- Professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Compassionate and respectful approach
