We are currently seeking a Safety Coordinator to join our Construction Team!

The Safety Coordinator plays a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of our workers and subcontractors while ensuring our construction sites comply with all safety regulations. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, this position is responsible for implementing and maintaining the safety program, conducting routine site inspections, and providing training to construction teams. The successful candidate will collaborate with Site Superintendents and subcontractors to identify and address potential hazards,



fostering a safe and compliant work environment for all.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly communicative, and eager to learn. They must demonstrate a strong work ethic, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting, and adaptability to various weather and site conditions. A positive and responsible attitude is essential.

Key Responsibilities

•Act as a resource for safety-related issues supporting the Safety Manager and site teams.

•Monitor compliance with legislated standards as well as Troika Construction’s Occupational Health & Safety Program.

•Provide job hazard analysis through personal observation and conduct daily workplace inspections.

•Coordinate and conduct safety training sessions for employees, subcontractors, and other visitors.

•Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses, and provide detailed reports with recommendations for corrective actions.

•Assist the Site Superintendent in setting company safety goals and strategies – establish measurement and adjust as needed for the successful safety performance.

Inspect sits, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and to ensure safety regulation compliance.

•Conduct and record new hire and subcontractor orientations.

•Collect and review daily Field Level Hazard Assessments.

•Review subcontractor documentation for accuracy and provide feedback to personnel.

•Assist in maintaining and scheduling safety records, inspections, and training records.

•Assist in conducting internal and COR audits.

•Assist in performing annual safety reviews, hazard assessments, etc.

•Ensure reporting and other regulatory requirements are met for all injuries and near misses.

•Utilize safety reporting system, SiteDocs, to ensure all health and safety matters are documented and completed promptly.





•Some additional site labour support as required, such as garbage removal, fencing set up, and moving site materials.

•Other duties as required by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

•Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator in the construction industry.

•CSO training

•OFA Level 2.

•Previous construction site experience.

•Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).

•Strong organizational and prioritization skills.

•Strong leadership skills.

•Working knowledge of all Provincial WorkSafe BC legislations, regulations, policies, guidelines and standards.

•Possess a general understanding of construction procedures, equipment and safety guidelines.

•Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.

•Valid Class 5 driver’s license with reliable transportation.

•Safety audit experience an asset.

•Experience using SiteDocs software an asset.

•A self-starter, motivated to take a lead role concerning health and safety.

•Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines. Work overtime and weekends as required.

Experience

•3+ years in construction safety or similar experience.

•Experience in multi-family residential wood frame buildings an asset.

Working Conditions

•Frequent travel to job sites as required.

•Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.

•Occasional lifting of materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
