The Traffic and Road Safety Supervisor oversees the delivery of traffic safety programs and liaises with Campus Public Safety Supervisors, SRS leadership, and a range of internal and external stakeholders regarding special events, traffic and pedestrian movement, cycling and other forms of personal transportation, UAV/drone operations, construction and road maintenance impacts, emergent roadway disruptions, regulatory compliance, and related traffic and safety issues. The role supports the common goal of enhancing public safety while maintaining University operations. The Traffic and Road Safety Supervisor monitors and assesses traffic and pedestrian movement on campus and provides safety education to students, faculty, staff, and visitors.

The role may act as Incident Commander during severe weather events and emergencies involving roadways or access routes, working alongside other Campus Public Safety team members. The role also serves as a primary first aid responder for motor vehicle collisions and other roadway-related incidents on the Burnaby campus. Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Emergency Management,



or another relevant field and four years of related experience in an operational public safety, community safety, medical first responder or security role, including experience working in a traffic and road safety environment in a supervisory leadership capacity or equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience.

Strong knowledge of traffic and road safety principles, practices, and applicable regulations to review Traffic Management Plans (TMP) and Traffic Impact Assessments (TIA) as a traffic authority representing SFU. Ability to assess operational and safety risks, exercise sound judgment, and make timely decisions in the field. Practical, hands-on ability to support the secure operation and upkeep of vehicles, traffic safety equipment, and related operational resources.
