Position Summary The Security Guard is responsible for protecting people, property, and assets by maintaining a safe and secure environment in accordance with the Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 (PSISA), related regulations, and client-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The role requires professionalism, vigilance, and strict adherence to all applicable laws and workplace policies.

Key Responsibilities

- Patrolling & Monitoring: Conduct regular foot patrols of assigned areas to deter and detect unauthorized activity. Monitor security systems such as CCTV, access control, and intrusion alarms where applicable.
- Access Control: Control entry and exit points in accordance with site procedures. Verify identification, credentials, or passes as required.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly and appropriately to alarms, emergencies, and incidents including fire, medical, and security events. Take lawful and reasonable action to prevent or minimize harm to persons, property, or information.
- Enforcement of Rules & Policies: Enforce site-specific rules and regulations in a respectful and lawful manner. Remain impartial and professional when addressing conflicts or rule violations.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare accurate, detailed, and timely incident reports, daily activity logs, and any other required documentation. Maintain confidentiality and comply with privacy regulations.
- Communication: Maintain clear and professional communication with clients, co-workers, emergency services, and the Operations Command Centre.
- Customer Service: Provide assistance and guidance to staff, visitors, or the public when appropriate. Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor at all times.

Minimum Qualifications

- Valid Ontario Security Guard Licence issued by the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C Certification from a WSIB-approved vendor.
- Clear criminal background check in accordance with PSISA requirements.




- Legal authorization to work in Canada.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
- Demonstrates superior customer service skills and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act as well as section 494 of the Criminal Code.
- Management of Aggressive Behaviour and Use of Force Certification

Preferred Qualifications (Asset but not mandatory)

- Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or military service.
- Experience with security technology such as CCTV, access control, or alarm systems.
- Additional language skills beyond English.

Physical & Other Requirements

- Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to perform patrol duties indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Skilled, punctual, and reliable work ethic.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays.

- All duties must be performed in compliance with:
- Private Security and Investigative Services Act, 2005 (PSISA) and its regulations.
- Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA).
- Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA).
- Ontario Human Rights Code.
- Security Guards are prohibited from carrying or using weapons unless specifically authorized under applicable law.
- All information and records obtained in the course of duty must be handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws.
- Our Code of Conduct in performing job requirements.

Employment Conditions

Employment is conditional upon

- Maintaining a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence at all times.
- Maintaining valid First Aid & CPR Level C Certification.
- Successfully passing any required background checks.
- Compliance with all company policies, client requirements, and legal obligations.

Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract Pay: $19.00-$22.00 per hour
