Senior Data Loss Prevention Security Analyst

Halifax (Hybrid-2 days in office)

Our client a dynamic Information Technology services company that partners with leading global organizations to deliver innovative, high-quality IT solutions is looking for a Senior Data Loss Prevention Security Analyst to join their growing team.

The Senior Data Loss Prevention Security Analyst will be responsible for building the function from the ground up, designing and implementing data classification and data loss prevention technologies, establishing the processes and workflows that underpin them, and providing meaningful risk insight to the business.

This is not a traditional data protection or privacy role. Whilst an understanding of relevant regulations is important, the focus of this position is firmly on technical data security controls, technology implementation and risk management.

The right candidate will be self-directed and capable of driving successful outcomes with minimal supervision. They will be comfortable building structure and process from the ground up and be confident engaging with business stakeholders and wider technical teams to drive successful outcomes and evolve this capability.

Responsibilities

• Technology Implementation: Lead the planning, design and phased delivery of data classification and DLP technologies in coordination with IT Engineering teams. Configuring policy rules, alerting thresholds and enforcement actions, with an ongoing focus on reducing false positive rates and improving signal quality.

• Business Analysis and Data Discovery: Drive data flow mapping and discovery exercises with business stakeholders,

translating findings into clear documentation and actionable risk insight. Understand business context well enough to ensure controls are proportionate and practical.

• Risk Reporting and Data Insights: Produce data-driven risk insights at operational and strategic levels to give leadership a clear, evidence-backed view of data exposure. Reporting should support decisions, not record activity.

• Regulatory Awareness: Maintain working knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations, including UK GDPR and relevant global frameworks, applied through a practical information security lens to inform control design and policy.

• Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Information Security function, including Security Operations and GRC, ensuring data security activity integrates with and supports the broader risk and assurance picture.

• Awareness and Education: Lead the development and delivery of data loss prevention classification and data handling training, helping users understand their responsibilities in a transparent and accessible way that promotes good practice.

• Automation and Innovation: Identify opportunities to apply automation and AI technologies to reduce manual effort and improve the quality and efficiency of data security processes.

• Capability Evolution:

Drive the evolution of the capability focusing on scope development, wider business adoption and feature enhancements to maximize value with a scalable approach that is planned with measurable milestones.

Qualifications

- Demonstrable hands-on experience designing, deploying and configuring DLP and data classification technologies, ideally from an early or foundational stage.
- Strong technical understanding of data security controls, including policy configuration, alerting, enforcement actions and false positive management.
- Experience conducting data discovery and data flow mapping with business stakeholders, with the ability to translate findings into meaningful risk insight.
- Working knowledge of data protection and privacy regulations, such as GDPR and relevant global frameworks, interpreted through a practical information security lens.
- Solid understanding of information security concepts and frameworks, with enough literacy to engage credibly with Information Security and IT colleagues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business language with the ability to produce clear, well-structured risk reporting for operational and executive audiences.
- Self-directed and confident working with autonomy, able to drive outcomes and build structure independently with minimal supervision.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team. The company offers a competitive compensation package, medical & health benefits and RRSP matching.

If this sounds like the ideal position for you then apply today!
