Position Summary:

The Senior Designer position reports to the President. The Senior Designer will be tasked with managing a number of their own customer design projects as well as strategic department work. The Senior Designer will attend all design meetings, develop project designs and drawings, guide customers through the design process, administer and document the design process of each project, as well as support sales, marketing and production departments through design.

The Senior Designer will also be tasked with the advancement and improvement of the Design department through strategic initiatives, process and policy development, research and designer mentoring. The Senior Designer will work with all JBA departments and employees as necessary to develop a creative and effective design department.

Professional Education and Experience:

- A University level degree or diploma in interior design.
- A minimum of 5 years related residential construction-based design experience.
- Demonstrated design capabilities in the form of a residential design portfolio.
- A demonstrated ability to operate general business software programs.
- A demonstrated ability to operate, and learn, design drawing software programs.
- The ability to lead others on the Design Team.
- Must be process driven with the ability to develop systems and processes within the Design department.

Goals, Duties and Responsibilities:

- The majority of the Senior Designer’s role will be centered on customer fulfillment through the design process.
- All Designers are expected to meet with the Owner weekly to review all design projects, as well as construction projects requiring design work.
- Project or Junior Designers will meet with the Senior Designer weekly to review specific design items, customer concerns or issues as may be required.
- The Senior Designer will manage all aspects of the Design Phase of their assigned projects.
- The Designer will track hours for each project and will be reviewed weekly.
- The Senior Designer will assist in training new designers and accountability towards day-to-day design tasks.
- Meet with Sales Representatives to review new projects – The Sales To Design Handoff.




- Manage the design schedule and the online management system through the design phase.
- Schedule and attend project Site Investigations, confirming all existing site conditions.
- Develop as-built drawings from Site Investigation information.
- Schedule and attend all customer design meetings as may be required to complete each project design.
- The Designer will develop all project design drawings; plans, elevations, renderings and sketches as may be required.
- The Designer will guide the customer through, and document, the selection process.
- Confirm and document all specifications for each project selection.
- Develop and document all information required by Estimating/Sales to produce design proposal costing and construction contract costing.
- Prepare documentation for and attend the Trade Conference meeting.
- The Designer will develop and document all information required by the Production Department – The Design to Production Handoff.
- The Designer will support production with design work as may be required during the production process.
- The Design is required to maintain all project design related work on the CRM system – including scheduling, selections, documents, etc.

Sales and Marketing

- The Designer will support sales and marketing departments as may be required through both the sales and design processes.
- The Designer may be responsible to develop preliminary design drawings for sales presentations, 3D views and renderings.
- The Designer will support the Marketing Team, by producing drawings, renderings or other creative work which could be used for social media, the website or other company marketing materials.

Estimating and Production

- Support the Production department as may be required to maintain project budgets and profitability.
- Support, enable and ensure projects are carried out within their allotted budget hours before contracts.




- The Designer will support estimating by developing complete design packages
- The Designer will continuously search for, consider, bring forward and support the most efficient and effective products, processes and policies.

Management

- The Designer is expected to support their fellow employees both professionally and personally whenever possible.
- Contribute to the growth, profitability and stability through daily job tasks, management and strategic work.
- The Designer will at all times act in accordance with the company's Vision and Mission Statements and strive to maintain or improve reputation within our community.
- Complete assigned tasks within the agreed upon times. Communicate in advance of task completion deadlines, difficulties completing assigned tasks and rescheduling expected completion times with affected parties.
- Communicate clearly, in a timely manner, with other employees and departments as required to help them complete their work and complete projects.
- Contribute wherever, whenever and at all times to the production of an exceptionally high-quality renovation design and renovation project.
- The designer is expected to, and has authority to, bring forth any issues with the quality of the product when issues are discovered or arise.
- The Designer will contribute to the overall philosophy and style of the Design Department.

- Mentor and support new and junior designers

- The Designer will lead by example.
- The Designer will continually educate and improve both professionally and personally.
- Show an initiative to learn new skills, gain new information, grow creatively and pursue continuous improvement.
- Provide encouragement, recognition, constructive feedback and coaching to all team members.
- Resolve all conflicts in a manner which perks all parties involved.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
