Automotive Service Advisor | Customer Experience & Sales

Point S AutoTown

We’re looking for a rockstar.

Not someone who wants to stand behind a counter, wait for the phone to ring, write a few work orders and go home.

We’re looking for the person who walks into a shop and raises the energy.

Someone who genuinely likes people. Someone who remembers customers’ names, asks about their kids, explains repairs without making people feel stupid, answers the phone with some life in their voice, and understands that great customer service is about making people feel taken care of.

But there’s another side to this job.

You also need to be hungry.

We want someone who comes to work ready to attack the day. When the phones are quiet, you don’t wait for something to happen. You make something happen.

There are customers in our database who haven't been in lately. Call them.

A customer declined brakes six months ago. Follow up.

Someone bought tires from us but hasn't been back for service. Reach out.

Tomorrow's schedule has holes in it. Start working the phones.

A customer is waiting for an estimate. Get it done.

A technician needs an approval. Get the customer on the phone.

You should be constantly asking yourself:

“What can I do right now to help the customer, help the technicians and keep this shop moving?”

That's the mentality we're looking for.

WHO WE ARE

AutoTown is a growing group of automotive service and tire stores built around a pretty simple belief:

Treat people exceptionally well and do great work.

We want our stores to feel different from the stereotypical repair shop.

Warm. Friendly. Professional. Energetic. Honest.

Customers should feel comfortable walking through our doors whether they know everything about cars or absolutely nothing.

We sell premium tires, automotive repair and maintenance, but what we're really building is long-term relationships with customers.

We take that seriously.

THE PERSON WE'RE LOOKING FOR

There's a good chance our ideal candidate is currently underappreciated somewhere else.

Maybe you're already a Service Advisor and you're tired of working somewhere that doesn't recognize what you bring to the table.

Maybe you're a technician or apprentice who understands vehicles but discovered you're exceptionally good with people.

Maybe you're working in automotive parts, dealerships, tires, collision or another automotive environment and know you're capable of more.

Maybe you've never been given the opportunity to really run with the ball.

That's okay.

We're much more interested in finding the right person than finding the perfect résumé.

You need enough automotive knowledge to confidently talk with technicians and customers. We can teach systems, processes and some technical knowledge.

It's much harder to teach drive, warmth, curiosity, urgency and personality.

WHAT YOU'LL ACTUALLY DO

You'll be one of the primary faces and voices of AutoTown.

Your responsibilities will include

- Greeting customers and creating an outstanding experience from the moment they walk through the door
- Answering phones professionally, enthusiastically and confidently
- Booking appointments and building an efficient shop schedule
- Writing and managing repair orders from check-in through vehicle delivery
- Listening carefully to customer concerns and accurately communicating them to technicians
- Reviewing technician findings and building clear estimates
- Explaining repairs and maintenance in plain language customers can understand
- Presenting recommendations confidently and helping customers make informed decisions
- Following up on estimates, declined work and recommended maintenance
- Proactively calling existing customers to generate appointments and maintain relationships
- Reaching out to customers who haven't visited recently
- Working our customer database instead of waiting for business to walk through the door
- Keeping technicians informed and helping maintain productive workflow through the shop
- Providing customers with regular updates throughout the repair process
- Coordinating parts, timelines and approvals
- Helping identify opportunities to improve sales, customer retention and shop productivity
- Following up after service to make sure customers are happy
- Handling concerns with professionalism and finding solutions
- Keeping the front counter organized, clean and welcoming
- Pitching in wherever necessary when the team gets slammed

And yes: You will sell.

We don't believe selling means pressuring people into things they don't need.

Great automotive sales means identifying what a vehicle genuinely needs, explaining it clearly, building trust and confidently asking for the work.

If a customer needs brakes, we want you comfortable recommending brakes.

If maintenance is overdue, explain why it matters.

If four tires make more sense than two, explain the difference.

We want advisors who aren't afraid to ask for the business.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE The person who crushes this role will:

- Build relationships quickly
- Have exceptional phone skills
- Be naturally warm and friendly
- Have strong automotive knowledge
- Understand how an automotive repair shop operates
- Be comfortable discussing mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Be highly organized in a rapid-moving environment
- Follow through relentlessly
- Communicate extremely well with technicians
- Be confident presenting estimates and asking for approvals
- Look for opportunities instead of waiting for instructions
- Stay productive when the shop gets quiet

- Handle pressure without becoming miserable to work with
- Take ownership when something goes wrong
- Care about sales and shop performance
- Care just as much about whether the customer comes back next time
- Bring energy to the people around them

YOU'LL PROBABLY LOVE THIS JOB IF... You hate standing around when there's work that could be done.

You like talking to people.

You get satisfaction from turning an empty schedule into a busy one.

You enjoy the challenge of getting a customer from “I'll think about it” to “Okay, let's get it done” without making them feel pressured.

You notice things other people miss.

You'd rather pick up the phone and solve a problem than send three emails about it.

You want responsibility.

You want your effort to matter.

And you'd like to work somewhere that's growing and where a great performer has room to become something much bigger.

YOU PROBABLY WON'T LIKE IT HERE IF...

You're looking for a job where you can hide behind the counter.

If the shop is quiet and your instinct is to scroll your phone instead of working the customer list, this isn't going to be a fit.

If you need someone constantly telling you what to do next, this probably isn't your place.

If you think sales is a dirty word, we're probably not the right shop for you.

And if “that's not my job” is part of your vocabulary, we're definitely not the right shop for you.

EXPERIENCE

Automotive industry experience is strongly preferred.

Experience as a Service Advisor, Service Writer, Technician, Apprentice Technician, Parts Advisor, Tire Salesperson or in a dealership/repair environment would all be valuable.

You should have enough automotive knowledge to understand common repairs, maintenance and terminology and to communicate effectively between customers and technicians.

Previous experience with shop management software is an asset, but we'll train the right person.

Most importantly, we're looking for evidence that you've been successful wherever you've worked.

THE OPPORTUNITY

AutoTown is growing.

That means we're not just hiring someone to fill a chair.

We're looking for people who can help us build something.

If you're currently somewhere that doesn't recognize what you're capable of, we'd like to meet you.

If you're hungry for more responsibility, more opportunity and a chance to make a measurable impact on a business, we'd like to meet you.

And if you're the kind of person who can combine old-school hospitality with serious work ethic and sales drive, you might be exactly who we're looking for.

Bring us your personality, your automotive knowledge and your work ethic.

We'll give you the opportunity to show us what you can do.

We are AutoTown. Local. Passionate. Proud.
