Support adults experiencing homelessness as a Shelter Resource Worker in Campbell River, BC. This casual position requires direct service and crisis intervention to assist vulnerable individuals. As a Shelter Resource Worker at Lookout Housing and Health Society, you will provide essential support in a 24/7 emergency shelter.
Your role includes intakes, orientations, and connecting guests with relevant public service agencies. You will navigate challenges such as addiction and mental health to maintain a safe workplace for all clients. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide supervision and support to homeless adults
- Accept referrals and share information with external resources
- Refer guests to community service organizations
- Conduct interviews and ensure basic necessities are met
- Maintain records and statistical data accurately
Requirements:
- Related Certificate or Grade 12 plus two years experience
- Familiarity with community resources and support services
- Current Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certificate
- Crisis Intervention and Trauma Informed Practice training
- Criminal Record Clearance for Vulnerable Sector
