Eascan Automation has been designing and building custom automation, robotics and control systems in Winnipeg since 1992. We build robotic cells, industrial control panels, motion control systems and one-off machines for manufacturers across Canada and the United States. As of 2026 we are employee-owned. We are hiring a Shipper / Receiver for our shop at 885 Wall Street.

This is a good entry-level job for someone who wants to build a career in automation. You do not need years of experience. You do need to bring organization, cleanliness and care with detail, and we will pay for the rest of the training, including your forklift certification and Lean Six Sigma.

The role

You will run shipping and receiving for a custom machine shop and keep our inventory levels accurate, and you will be the one person everyone can count on to be at the door. Every incoming part gets received the same day, checked against the purchase order and entered in our system, then delivered to the right project or bench. Every outgoing shipment, from a single spare part to a crated robotic cell, gets quoted, packed, documented and on the truck when it is supposed to be.

Beyond that you will help around the shop and support other departments as required, and you will look after the internal hardware our projects run on.

What you will do

- Be the first response when the buzzer rings. Couriers and deliveries do not wait.
- Receive every incoming shipment the same day, before anything else: check quantities and part numbers against the purchase order and packing slip, note shortages or damage on the spot, and enter the receipt so the system matches the shelf.
- Sort and deliver received items to the right project, bench or stock location, and flag urgent parts to the people waiting on them.
- Keep inventory levels accurate, all the time. Put things where they belong, record what comes in and what goes out, and run cycle counts.
- Look after the internal hardware our projects rely on: track what is allocated to which job, and keep it staged and labelled.
- Quote shipments. Get carrier rates, compare cost and transit time, and bring the right option back to the project manager before booking.
- Prepare,



pack and schedule outgoing shipments, from small parts to crated machines, and oversee safe, accurate loading and unloading.
- Book carriers, track shipments and confirm receipt. Get a signed packing slip for everything that leaves.
- Stay on top of the paperwork: packing slips, waybills, receiving records and cross-border documentation for U.S. shipments, all complete, filed and findable later.
- Inspect the condition of incoming and outgoing goods before signing off, and report discrepancies right away.
- Manage the inventory of packaging and shipping supplies, and create purchase requisitions for approval before ordering.
- Make local pick-ups and deliveries as assigned.
- Keep the shipping and receiving area organized, clean and safe.
- Help around the shop and assist other departments as required, once receiving and shipping are done for the day.

What you bring

- High school diploma or GED.
- Some experience in a warehouse, shop or shipping and receiving setting. This is an entry-level seat, so how you work matters more than how long you have done it.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence and a valuable driving record. This is a must; the job includes local pick-ups and deliveries.
- Forklift operation. You will need to be certified, and if you are not yet, we pay for the training.
- Willingness to take Lean Six Sigma training. We will put you through it, and we expect you to use it.
- Strong computer skills. Most of this job runs through a system: receiving and inventory, email and Teams, spreadsheets and barcode scanners.
- Very organized. You keep lists, close them out, and nothing sits in a pile waiting to be dealt with.
- Very clean. You keep your area tidy and labelled, and you put things back where they belong.
- Exact with numbers.



You notice when four were ordered and three arrived, and you do not sign until it is right.
- On top of paperwork. You would rather file it now than look for it later.
- The ability to lift up to 50 lbs and be on your feet in a shop environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication.
- Reliability, a strong work ethic and a positive attitude, working as part of a team and on your own.

Nice to have, not required

- Experience receiving and shipping in an ERP or inventory system.
- Experience preparing cross-border shipping and customs paperwork, or getting freight quotes from carriers.
- Crating and packaging experience for heavy or fragile equipment.
- Current forklift certification.

Valuable to know This is a permanent, full-time, in person position at our shop on Wall Street in Winnipeg. An early start is appreciated, though not mandatory. Your desk is at the receiving door, on purpose: when a courier buzzes, you are the one who answers.

The shipping area is part of a working shop, so expect some noise, dust, odours, fumes and oils, and temperatures that change with the season. The person you are replacing is not leaving Eascan; he is moving into the panel shop, and people here move into new roles often.
