Position Summary The Shop Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized truck repair shop, yard, and surrounding work areas. This position supports mechanics and shop staff by keeping work areas free of debris, spills, garbage, and unnecessary clutter. The Shop Cleaner will also assist with general shop maintenance and other duties as required.

Key Responsibilities

- Clean and maintain shop floors, work bays, offices, lunchrooms, washrooms, and common areas.
- Sweep, mop, and remove dirt, grease, oil, and other debris from shop floors.
- Clean up spills and dispose of waste properly.
- Empty garbage and recycling bins throughout the shop and yard.
- Keep shop tools, equipment, and work areas organized as directed.
- Clean and maintain mechanic work areas after repairs are completed.
- Assist with cleaning trucks, equipment, parts, and shop items when required.
- Maintain clean and organized storage areas.
- Help keep the shop yard clean and free of unnecessary debris.
- Assist with snow removal, yard cleanup, and general grounds maintenance as required.
- Properly handle and dispose of shop waste, oily materials, and other materials in accordance with company procedures.
- Maintain adequate supplies of cleaning products and notify management when supplies need to be reordered.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, spills, or hazards to management.
- Assist mechanics and other shop personnel with general labor duties when required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Shop Manager or Supervisor.

Safety Responsibilities




- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment.
- Follow all shop safety procedures.
- Use cleaning chemicals and equipment according to manufacturer and company requirements.
- Properly store cleaning products and equipment when not in use.
- Be aware of moving trucks, heavy equipment, hoists, tools, and other shop hazards.
- Immediately report safety concerns, injuries, spills, or property damage.

Qualifications
- Previous experience in a commercial shop, industrial, or maintenance environment is an asset.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to cleanliness and organization.
- Dependable and punctual.
- Physically capable of lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and working for extended periods.
- Ability to work around grease, oil, dirt, and other shop-related materials.
- Good attitude and willingness to assist the shop team.
- Valid driver's license is an asset.

Working Conditions
- Work is primarily performed in a truck repair shop and outdoor yard.
- Exposure to dirt, grease, oil, noise, dust, weather conditions, and heavy equipment.
- May require lifting and moving materials and equipment.
- May require flexible schedule depending on shop operations.

Reporting Structure Reports To: Shop Manager / Shop Foreman

Performance Expectations The Shop Cleaner is expected to maintain a high standard of cleanliness, safety, and organization throughout the shop and yard. The successful candidate will take pride in keeping the workplace clean and will work cooperatively with mechanics, drivers, and management to support efficient shop operations.

Pay: From $18.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
