Social Media & Content Creator | Part-Time The Rental Brothers | Calgary SE
Part-Time | Approximately 1–3 Days per Week | Hybrid + Field-Based The Rental Brothers is looking for a creative, energetic Social Media & Content Creator to help showcase what we do behind the scenes.
We’re an event rental company working on everything from weddings and corporate events to festivals, large tent installations, staging, Stampede events, and major outdoor activations throughout Calgary and surrounding areas.
This is not a desk-only social media position.
A big part of this role will involve getting out to event sites, capturing our crews in action, documenting setups, creating before-and-after content, filming time lapses, and turning real-world event work into engaging social media content.
If you enjoy creating short-form video, spotting interesting moments, telling stories visually, and building social media accounts that actually feel alive, this could be a great fit.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Visit event sites, installations, warehouse operations, and other locations to capture photos and video
- Film behind-the-scenes content of tent installations, stages, deliveries, event setups, and transformations
- Create engaging Instagram Reels, Facebook content, Stories, short-form videos, and other social media content
- Edit video and photography into polished, professional content
- Write captions and social media copy
- Plan and schedule social media posts
- Help develop recurring content ideas and campaigns
- Maintain an organized library of photo and video content
- Identify strong content opportunities without needing to be directed every step of the way
- Help showcase the scale, professionalism, people, and personality behind The Rental Brothers
- Monitor basic social media performance and recommend what types of content we should create more of
What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who is both creative and self-directed.
You should be able to walk onto an event site and recognize what would make great content.
You might see a large tent being installed and think, “That needs to be a time lapse.”
You might see an empty field becoming a full event site and immediately recognize the before-and-after opportunity.
You should be comfortable around busy crews, trucks, equipment, warehouses, and active event sites.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience creating social media content for businesses, brands, organizations, or clients
- Strong short-form video and editing skills
- Experience with Instagram, Facebook, Reels, Stories, and similar platforms
- A good eye for composition, storytelling, and interesting visuals
- Strong written communication skills
- The ability to work independently
- Good organization and time-management skills
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to event sites throughout Calgary and surrounding areas
- Flexibility to occasionally attend setups or events when good content opportunities arise
Experience with Canva, CapCut, Adobe Premiere, Lightroom, Photoshop, or similar tools is an asset. Professional photography equipment is not necessarily required. We care much more about your ability to consistently create strong content.
Portfolio Required
Please include links to social media accounts you currently manage or have previously managed.
We want to see real examples of your work.
Please indicate what you personally handled for each account, including things such as:
- Video filming
- Photography
- Editing
- Reels
- Captions
- Content strategy
- Account management
Applications without examples of previous social media work may not be considered.
Schedule
This is currently a part-time position of approximately 1–3 days per week.
The role is hybrid.
Editing, scheduling, caption writing, and some planning can be completed remotely.
However, regular attendance at our warehouse and event sites is an important part of the position.
The schedule may vary depending on upcoming events and content opportunities, so some flexibility is important.
Why Work With Us?
This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to create content that is more interesting than sitting behind a desk photographing products.
Our crews build things.
You’ll have the chance to capture large tents going up, mobile stages unfolding, festival sites coming together, weddings being transformed, trucks arriving, crews working, and empty spaces becoming full events.
We want someone who can help us document that story.
You’ll also have significant creative freedom to bring forward ideas, experiment with new content, and help shape the online personality of a growing Calgary company.
