Wonder Elm - Paediatric Therapy Clinic
Maple
Overview
Wonder Elm Paediatric Therapy Clinic is a multidisciplinary children's therapy clinic in Maple, Vaughan, providing Occupational Therapy, Speech-Language Pathology, Physiotherapy, and Parent Counselling.
We are looking for a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our growing paediatric team as an independent contractor.
This opportunity begins with approximately one recurring biweekly Friday or weekend shift, with the ability to gradually add more shifts as the caseload grows and according to the clinician's availability and interests. It may be a outstanding fit for an SLP looking to add some private practice alongside another position, or for someone interested in gradually building a larger paediatric caseload with us.
At Wonder Elm, we aim to give clinicians the autonomy of private practice without requiring them to manage all of the administrative work that comes with running a practice independently. Our administrative team manages referrals, scheduling, cancellations, payments, receipts, and insurance-related administrative questions so clinicians can focus primarily on clinical care.
We value thoughtful, evidence-informed, child- and family-centred care, interdisciplinary collaboration where it is helpful, and respect for each clinician's professional judgement and individual approach to practice.
What Wonder Elm Provides
- A growing clinic-generated referral and client base
- Administrative management of bookings, cancellations, payments, receipts, and insurance-related questions
- A fully furnished paediatric treatment room
- Assessment tools and clinical materials
- Toys, games, and therapy resources
- Jane practice-management access and a Wonder Elm professional email
- Optional mentorship and clinical support for clinicians who would find it helpful
- Flexibility to maintain other employment or private-practice work
- Increasing schedule flexibility as the clinician's caseload develops
- No expectation that clinicians generate their own clients, although participation in clinic outreach and community-building initiatives is welcomed
Key Responsibilities
- Assess paediatric clients' speech, language, communication, and related needs within the clinician's areas of competence
- Develop individualized treatment plans, goals, and recommendations based on assessment findings and family priorities
- Provide evidence-informed speech-language pathology intervention to children and adolescents
- Monitor progress and adapt treatment approaches as appropriate
- Provide caregiver education, coaching, and home recommendations where clinically appropriate
- Complete clinical documentation and reports in accordance with professional and regulatory standards
- Collaborate with families and, with appropriate consent, other professionals involved in the child's care
- Collaborate with Wonder Elm's OT, PT, Parent Counselling, and other team members when interdisciplinary input would benefit the child
- Maintain all clinical and professional responsibilities required by CASLPO
Qualifications
Required:
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or an equivalent qualification recognized for practice in Ontario
- Registered and in good standing with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO), or eligible to obtain appropriate CASLPO registration before beginning independent clinical practice
- Professional liability insurance meeting CASLPO requirements
- Interest in working with a paediatric population
- Strong clinical communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to provide services in person at our Maple, Vaughan clinic
Experience with children is preferred, but strong early-career SLPs and new graduates with relevant paediatric clinical placement experience are encouraged to apply.
Experience or additional training in areas such as speech sound disorders, language development, early communication, fluency, literacy, AAC, social communication, or other areas of paediatric speech-language pathology is an asset but is not expected across every area.
Additional languages are also an asset.
