SCD COLLECTIBLES – EMPLOYEE REQUIREMENTS

We’re looking for motivated people to join SCD Collectibles as Sports Card Breakers and Sorters.

We want employees who are reliable, fast, knowledgeable, positive, and able to keep up with a high-energy sports card business.

SPORTS CARD BREAKER A breaker is not just opening boxes. You are hosting a live show, selling spots, entertaining customers, and representing SCD Collectibles.

Requirements

- Strong knowledge of hockey cards, players, teams, rookies, products, and major hits
- Comfortable speaking on camera for long periods of time
- Clear, confident communication
- Able to learn products, checklists, break formats, and pricing quickly
- Reliable and punctual
- Comfortable working evenings and weekends when required
- Able to use Whatnot and basic streaming equipment
- Organized enough to keep cards, teams, buyers, and breaks accurate
- Treat every customer’s cards carefully
- No missing cards, mixing teams, or rushing through hits
- Honest and trustworthy around high-value cards and inventory

ENERGY & SELLING This is extremely key.

We are looking for someone who naturally brings energy to the stream.

You need to

- Keep talking and interacting with the chat
- Welcome customers when they enter
- Learn regular customers’ usernames and make them feel recognized
- Build excitement before and during breaks
- Explain why a break or product is interesting
- Promote remaining spots without sounding desperate or annoying
- Create urgency when spots are getting low
- Celebrate big pulls properly
- Keep the energy up even when a box is slow
- Encourage bidding and participation
- Make customers want to stay in the stream
- Be entertaining while still professional
- Know when to joke around and when to focus on the break
- Never look bored, tired, annoyed, or uninterested on camera

We don’t want someone simply saying:



“Next spot… next box… who wants it?”

We want someone who can actually host and sell.

The goal is for customers to enjoy watching the stream even when they aren’t buying.

SALES MINDSET A good breaker should understand that their job is also to help grow sales.

That means

- Knowing what products we’re breaking
- Understanding the biggest chase cards and players
- Being able to explain value to customers
- Upselling naturally when appropriate
- Encouraging customers to bookmark upcoming shows
- Mentioning future breaks and special streams
- Turning first-time buyers into repeat customers
- Maintaining excitement without misleading customers about value or guaranteed outcomes

Never lie about card values, odds, products, or potential hits just to make a sale.

BREAKING STANDARDS

- Announce important cards clearly
- Show major hits properly on camera
- Sleeve/topload cards according to SCD procedures
- Keep cards visible and protected
- Double-check teams and player assignments
- Follow break rules exactly
- Never change rules once a break has started
- Ask for help immediately if there is uncertainty about a card or team
- Keep the breaking area clean and professional

SPORTS CARD SORTER The sorter is responsible for making sure every customer receives exactly what belongs to them. Accuracy comes before speed.

Requirements

- Strong attention to detail
- Basic knowledge of hockey teams and players
- Ability to learn card sets quickly
- Able to work independently
- Reliable and punctual
- Organized
- Comfortable doing repetitive work for extended periods
- Able to work quickly without sacrificing accuracy
- Respectful when handling customer cards and expensive inventory

SORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sort cards correctly by customer/team/break
- Verify usernames carefully

Pay: $18.00-$27.00 per hour
